Sugar-free avocado smoothie and bulgogi banh mi at Avocado Yeosu café

I went on a trip to Yeosu last weekend, and while wandering around near Isunsin Square, I stumbled on a place selling avocado smoothies — something I'm genuinely obsessed with (🥹) 🥑 I'm such a huge avocado fan that the moment I saw the sign, there was no walking past it. (Couldn't resist, no way.)

So today I'll share my notes from Avocado Yeosu, a café I visited during my Yeosu trip. If you're looking for something different among the cafés near Isunsin Square in Yeosu, or if you're an avocado lover, pay attention!

How to find Avocado Yeosu and what the shop is like inside

Finding Avocado Yeosu is super simple. Just look for the giant avocado sign — you can spot it from far away! 🥑

Walking in, the interior gives off Vietnamese vibes overall, and everything is done up in avocado-esque shades of light green 🌱

Further inside, there were mini tables and chairs lined up in a row, and there's a free-to-use photo booth camera inside!

I took a photo and left it stuck on the café wall. If you visit, go ahead and stash away a little memory too 📷

Avocado Yeosu takes orders via an in-store kiosk, and there were 7 menu items in total.

After some deliberation, I went with

these two.

What does the sugar-free avocado smoothie taste like?

Everyone, look at that smoothie color. It's made by smoothly blending perfectly ripe avocado, topped with coconut chips.

I think the most important thing for an avocado smoothie is how ripe the avocado is — too unripe and it can taste grassy, but too ripe and the distinctive flavor gets heavy. The avocado at Avocado Yeosu, though, was ripened to just the right point, so the taste was really great.

It was noticeably different from your typical fruit smoothie loaded with sugar to make it sweet. Instead of sweetness, the flavor centers on the avocado's own savory nuttiness and smooth richness! (Downside: you end up eating a lot in each sip, so it's gone quickly ㅠ)

The staff member was actually Vietnamese, and true to Vietnamese local style, they topped the avocado smoothie with coconut. The combo of thin, crispy-baked coconut flakes and creamy avocado was the highlight. 🥥🥑

Avocado banh mi: enough for two to share

I took the banh mi sandwich back to our accommodation,

and it was generously packed with carrots, onion, bulgogi (marinated grilled beef), and avocado. The vegetables were fresh, and the combo of bulgogi flavor with soft avocado was personally right up my alley. Best of all, the portion was big enough that one was plenty for two people to share. 😌

Verdict: why Avocado Yeosu works as a café near Isunsin Square

At Avocado Yeosu, my number one pick is definitely this avocado smoothie. 🥑 Since they use only fresh avocado, not frozen, it really tasted fresh, and the avocado flavor was wonderfully smooth. 💚

Taking photos with the camera while waiting for the order was fun too, and browsing other visitors' photos stuck on the wall was a small joy as well.

The avocado smoothie has no added sugar, so there's no artificial sweetness, but true to avocado's nickname as "butter of the forest," you really feel the avocado's own full presence, and thanks to its high unsaturated fat content, it's also filling — a genuinely satisfying kind of full.

Since it's right by Isunsin Square in Yeosu, it's a great spot to grab something to go and take a break. If you love avocado, prefer drinks that aren't too sweet, or are after something a little different on the café menu in Yeosu, I'd strongly recommend the avocado smoothie.
