A Yeosu dessert spot where the ingredients really shine: Jwasuyeong Baguette Burger.

Yi Sun-sin Square is an absolute must on any Yeosu trip, full of blue sea views and great food. Heavy meals like crab or sashimi are great, but on trips like this I always find myself craving a local snack I can carry around between stops or take back to the room. So while planning this Yeosu trip, I stopped by the original hotspot that's been beloved on the same spot for nearly 10 years since 2016 — Jwasuyeong Baguette Burger!

Where is Jwasuyeong Baguette Burger, and what about parking and hours?

Jwasuyeong Baguette Burger is at 10 Dongmun-ro, 1st floor, Yeosu-si, Jeollanam-do, right across from Jinnamgwan and about a 5-minute walk from Yi Sun-sin Square. It's open daily from 09:30 to 20:00, year-round, though it can close early if ingredients sell out.

The location is right across from Jinnamgwan, one of Yeosu's landmarks, so it was really easy to find. If you're driving, you can park at the Jinnamgwan public lot across the street — the first hour is free, so you don't need to stress about parking.

Inside Jwasuyeong Baguette Burger: window bar seats and a 500-year-old well

The clean, stylish exterior really catches the eye!

Stepping inside, the hall was much bigger and more comfortable than I expected. The yellow accent chairs and wooden interior gave it a clean, warm feel. The window bar seats where you can eat while looking out at Jinnamgwan through the huge window were especially lovely, and they'd thoughtfully set out high chairs too, so it looked like a great place for families to rest. Inside, there's also a preserved 500-year-old well site, which was pretty fascinating.

Checking the menu on the wall, the signature items were all solidly represented.

There was a notice posted at the counter — apparently the baguette burger is packed so full of filling that they don't cut it in half in-store, so it doesn't fall apart. Holding it with both hands and biting straight into it is the proper way to eat it!

How does the Jwasuyeong baguette burger taste?

First up, the signature Jwasuyeong baguette burger! Peeling off the cute parchment paper revealed a hefty size, about half a baguette, weighing solidly in my hand. The baguette, baked fresh daily, wasn't overly hard or chewy on the outside — it had that satisfying, crumbly crispness. The inside was hollowed out and packed tight with specially seasoned bulgogi and cabbage salad, no gaps at all!

The meat patty, which could easily have been greasy or heavy, was cut through cleanly by the spicy kick of green chili, so I never got tired of it eating haha.

Five Jwasuyeong ttungkarong flavors and insulated-bag takeout

Next up is the newly launched, currently very hot Jwasuyeong ttungkarong (chubby macaron) 5-piece set! Seriously... when I asked for it to go, they packed it up carefully and for free in a foil insulated bag with an ice pack included. Thanks to that, I could carry it back to the room safely without worrying about it melting in the heat.

The ttungkarong lineup features Yeosu's local specialty, Geomundo sea-breeze mugwort, in three forms — Mugwort Real, Mugwort Latte, and Mugwort Choco Chip — plus strawberry milk and cookies-and-cream, for five flavors total.

The thick, packed filling grabbed my attention right away, and taking a bite, it was so chewy haha. Not overly sweet, with a creamy taste!

Geomundo sea-breeze mugwort ice cream, 4,000 won

The final highlight was enjoying the Geomundo sea-breeze mugwort ice cream out in the sunshine!

This soft-serve is made 100% with Yeosu's local specialty, Geomundo sea-breeze mugwort, and they thoughtfully stick a crisp piece of baguette rusk right into the cup.

Scooping it up with a spoon, instead of any heavy or artificial bitterness, the soft, chewy soft-serve texture carried a deep, genuine mugwort flavor throughout. It felt like an upgraded version of the green part of chaltteok ice cream, if that makes sense. It was great as a palate cleanser after the spicy baguette burger haha.

Jwasuyeong Baguette Burger is easy to get to right across from Jinnamgwan and has convenient parking, so if you're craving a solid local snack during your Yeosu trip, definitely stop by!
