Tangjeong brunch café quiet at 11am, ₩43,000 for two: When You Bite

I've really been loving a relaxed brunch lately. This time I wanted a delicious brunch from the morning, so I headed to When You Bite, a spot in Tangjeong known for great brunch.

I visited around 11am. Being a well-known brunch café, about 5 tables were already eating when I arrived. It wasn't too crowded but wasn't empty either, making for a relaxed atmosphere to enjoy a meal.

A place made even better by the atmosphere

The moment I walked into When You Bite, it felt like a cozy, good-vibe brunch café.

The cozy atmosphere meant I wasn't bored even while waiting for the food. I thought this kind of space would be great for chatting slowly over brunch.

The food I ordered came out within 15 minutes. The wait wasn't long at all, which made it easy to enjoy when visiting for brunch.

Shrimp basil pesto pasta

I started with the shrimp basil pesto pasta. The plump shrimp on top caught my eye first.

Taking a bite, the shrimp meat was firm and plump, giving it a great texture.

The fragrant, nutty flavor unique to basil pesto blended well with the pasta, and the sauce coated the noodles just enough that the basil aroma spread subtly with each chew.

The piece of bread served alongside was good on its own, but I also dipped it into the leftover basil pesto sauce. The nutty bread paired with the fragrant pesto made for a pretty tasty combo too.

Soft egg Benedict

Next was the egg Benedict. Cutting into the poached egg slightly, the yolk spread softly, giving a moist texture.

The poached egg itself was soft and nutty, so eating it with the bread gave a light yet flavorful result.

The jambon ham inside had a nicely salty taste that added savory depth to what could otherwise be a plain flavor. The soft egg, salty jambon ham, and light bread came together in one bite better than I expected.

Clean iced Americano

Brunch just isn't complete without coffee, right? We ordered two iced Americanos to drink alongside the meal. At ₩4,500 each, it was an easy add-on. The taste was clean with a slight bitterness.

The subtle bitterness lingered in the mouth and paired well with light, savory dishes like the egg Benedict. If you like an Americano with a bit of a bitter edge rather than something too light or bland, this one should suit you well.

Above all, the atmosphere was great for eating slowly and chatting in the morning, so I think it'll suit anyone looking for a brunch café. I enjoyed a relaxed meal this time, and I'm thinking of stopping by again the next time I'm in Tangjeong.
