Peach bingsu in Yeosu at Gwaireui Sup, a fruit dessert café
In short
Gwaireui Sup Yeosu Branch is a fruit dessert café at the entrance to Dolsan in Yeosu, Gwangju. I tried peach bingsu and drinks in its picnic-like, pet-friendly space with a large parking lot, and was happy with both the fruit quality and the generous bingsu. Gwaireui Sup Yeosu Branch is a great choice for fresh fruit bingsu in Yeosu.

A fruit dessert café at the entrance to Dolsan, Yeosu
When traveling in Yeosu, plenty of visitors these days wonder whether they are paying too much for desserts simply because of the view. Even locals born and raised in Yeosu seek out places where that money goes toward fresher fruit or better desserts instead. Today, I visited Gwaireui Sup Yeosu Branch (과일의숲 여수점) in Dolsan, Yeosu, a spot known for its bingsu (shaved ice dessert) and honestly better quality than franchise bingsu shops.
Is it an easy place to stop for a cool dessert?
It has all the little elements for a proper break, making it a lovely place to linger in every season.

Gwaireui Sup is right at the entrance to Dolsan, so you do not have to wind deep into the area to reach it. Its dedicated parking lot is spacious, so you can park straight away and head into the café.

I had heard it was behind Dolsan Big Farm grocery market, so I wondered whether there could really be a café here. Once I arrived and looked around, I realized it really was a hidden café. It feels like a hidden master you might see on a TV show, running a place in a country village—and it really is like that.

From the parking lot and even once inside, there were bits of fruit scattered about on the floor(?), so I guess it really does live up to its name, Forest of Fruit.

It was divided into something like a main house(?) and an annex(?), and the landscaping was more thoughtfully done than I expected, which made it relaxing. There were lots of elements that made you feel at ease: the shade cloth let in warmth while blocking UV rays, so it was perfectly nice to enjoy bingsu and dessert outdoors too.

Overall, it felt free and easy, like coming on a picnic in warm sunshine.

This café captures Dolsan, Yeosu at its most characteristic. Since pets are welcome, whatever group you come with, you are bound to have a satisfying time.

I could picture people enjoying dessert while walking their dogs, then wiping the dirt from their paws. They also sell treats for dogs, and they are items the owner’s Pomeranian, Haetbani, eats too—so I do not think there is any need to worry about them.

There are two indoor spaces in total. Both had the air conditioning blasting, so you can rest comfortably without worrying about the heat. Every table had wet wipes, a thoughtful touch from the owner.
Are there lots of photo-spot areas?
There is a photo-paper booth, but every space looks like a bright page from a picnic fairy tale.

A photo-paper machine is installed, so we could take photos freely. Awoong took one first, and then I took one too, recording our weekend memories all over again.

Really, the layout was so well done that you could call every corner a photo spot. I let Awoong roam freely and explore Gwaireui Sup, and thinking about it, it has all kinds of interesting, eco-friendly country-café features that dogs would enjoy exploring too.
The fruit at the heart of fresh fruit bingsu
For a menu built around fruit, the fruit is what matters, right? It seemed as though they inspect and source it even more carefully than many well-known fruit shops.

Awoong’s birthday was a week after my visit, so I wanted to buy fruit to send to daycare. The fruit was genuinely in such excellent condition that I even considered stopping by Dolsan on the day of the birthday party to buy some. There was a wide range too, but it needs to be this good for a place to deserve its reputation for fresh fruit bingsu, doesn’t it?
How do you order from the menu?
You order through a kiosk, and I liked that there are simple meal options as well.

The main house(?) contains the restroom and the prep space where the owner makes everything. It felt so clean that it was practically an open kitchen. There is one kiosk outside and one inside the building, so you can pay at either one.
Ordering peach bingsu and drinks
We ordered peach bingsu, iced tea, an Americano, and fresh blueberry milk. Since this place is so well known for bingsu in Yeosu, I spent a long time deciding which one to get. Peach season may be nearing its end, but Cheonjungdo and Hwangdo peaches were still in their final stretch, and if you choose well, they are truly sweet.

We were thirsty, and to properly enjoy cool desserts alongside drinks, we ordered one drink per person plus the bingsu. In short, it was an absolutely successful order.

It was full of peaches, and there was actually more than the photos suggest. The pieces were neatly cut, and the owner is truly skilled at preparing fruit. It came with cereal and peach sauce for toppings; rather than pouring it all on at once, I recommend sprinkling it lightly as you eat, like little flakes falling over it.

A big scoop of ice cream on top lets you enjoy the sweetness to the fullest. It varies with harvest time, of course, but in early September when I visited, I got to try crisp Cheonjungdo and Hwangdo peaches.

The rich milk ice was shaved into a substantial snowflake style, which seemed to deepen the flavor even more. I loved that it was not merely called peach bingsu but was genuinely packed with peaches; above all, the peaches’ sweetness and the overall flavor balance came together in an ensemble that stayed delicious to the last bite.

If you take part in the review event, you receive an Americano or iced tea. We ordered an Americano and fresh blueberry milk, joined the review event, and received the iced tea. The Americano had an even balance of bright and nutty notes, making it a great coffee for quenching thirst. The iced tea, gently topped with a dried lemon chip, is nice for children but also easy to sip casually. And since Gwaireui Sup is famous for fresh fruit, I was curious about its fruit drinks too. The fresh blueberry milk—made by blending really rich fresh blueberries with milk—was delicious as well.
