Cheongju Culture Factory pot rice with free parking: Sorori Sotbap

The pot rice restaurant I visit most often in Cheongju — Sorori Sotbap! 🍚 I'd already been to the Gagyeong branch two or three times, but this was my first visit to the Culture Factory branch haha 😆 I'd tried the abalone pot rice, beef intestine pot rice and others before, but to cut to the chase — this short rib pot rice was the best thing I've eaten there so far! 🥹

Sorori Sotbap hours and free parking at Cheongju Culture Factory

• 🕖 Hours: Daily 11:00–20:30 (last order 20:00) — Break time: Mon–Fri 15:00–17:00 (none on weekends!)
• 🅿️ Parking: Free 2 hours on weekdays / free after 18:00 / free on weekends
• 📍 Location: 1st floor of Culture Factory, center of Wonder Aria / Void Mansion café

Just like the Gagyeong branch, parking here is really convenient! The Culture Factory parking lot is huge, and I've never once found it full :) Weekdays are free for 2 hours, and free after 18:00 on weekdays and all day on weekends!

How to find Sorori Sotbap inside Culture Factory

Sorori Sotbap Wonder Aria branch is located right near Void Mansion café once you enter Culture Factory! The exterior is full of decor that instantly feels like a Korean pot rice restaurant, so it wasn't hard to find 😄

Window views and seating: is Sorori Sotbap good for family meals?

The first thing that caught my eye as soon as I walked in was this floor-to-ceiling window view ✨ It looks straight out onto the plaza in front of Culture Factory, and the open, airy feeling was amazing!

Besides the seats by the window, there's a variety of other seating too. There's group seating and baby chairs, so it seems like a great spot for family visits 👫🏻 It would also work well for gatherings!

Sorori Sotbap menu and what to order: short rib pot rice, 16,000 won

This is the menu board out front before you go in 📋 It's illustrated to closely resemble the actual dishes, so it was really helpful to check before heading inside!

We ordered the short rib pot rice (₩16,000) and the fresh salmon soba gimbap (₩13,000) 😋

On the opposite side from the window is an open kitchen like this 👩‍🍳 Since it's pot rice, it does take a bit of time, but watching the pot rice being made through the open kitchen, and people-watching through the window while you wait, makes the time fly by ◡̈

Side dishes and the self-serve bar at Sorori Sotbap

The basic side dishes are diced radish kimchi (kkakdugi) and salted squid, a bonito broth with dried seaweed, and seaweed to mix into the pot rice 🥢

There's more of the side dishes at the self-serve bar right next to you, so if you run out while eating you can just refill there! We love seaweed so we went back for it several times haha 😆

The dishes were ready quickly ‼️ I already knew what to expect from the salmon soba gimbap since I'd had it before, but from the moment the short rib pot rice arrived, the smell was incredible.. 🥹

Fresh salmon buckwheat gimbap, 13,000 won: the order every visit

Fresh salmon soba gimbap (₩13,000) — let's start with my absolute favorite, the salmon soba gimbap! 🍣 This is a must-order whenever you come to Sorori. It looks simple at first glance, but the clean flavor and umami are amazing! It's the dish I order every single time I come here ♡

Look at that cross-section 🥹 I wondered why it tasted so good, and apparently they boil the soba noodles fresh every morning and let them age in their special tsuyu sauce. Add in sweet egg and their own house-cured salmon on top! There's just no way this combination could taste bad.. 💗

Short rib pot rice, 16,000 won: mixing it with butter

Short rib pot rice (₩16,000) — and finally, the star of the show arrives! 🍚 Can you see how quickly his hands moved to add the butter and mix it in? 🤭

He was carefully mixing it with chopsticks, insisting neither the ribs nor the rice grains could be damaged in the process 😂

Honestly, I'm still thinking about this taste.. We took one spoonful each and both went wide-eyed without saying a word 👀 Because the meat was so-o tender, and the butter aroma filled the whole bite — it was incredibly delicious 🥹 The whole time we ate, we kept regretting not ordering two of these, and wondering why we hadn't tried it sooner 😂

Halfway through, I sprinkled on some furikake from the side corner too! It brought out a bit more of the salty flavor ◡̈

Proof in the empty bowl 🫡 Honestly, I wasn't that hungry before we ate, but from the first bite I basically didn't stop until it was gone! 👍🏻

Who should eat at Sorori Sotbap Culture Factory Branch?

This was my first time at the Wonder Aria branch, and as expected, Sorori never disappoints!
