Naju pork cutlet restaurant with lettuce wraps: Jinsim Wang Donkkaseu

In short

Jinsim Wang Donkkaseu Naju Innovation Branch is a wang donkkaseu (giant pork cutlet) restaurant in the shopping strip on Ujeong-ro in Naju, South Jeolla. On a Sunday lunch with the kids we ordered two wang donkkaseu at 10,900 won each and one jjol donkkaseu at 14,900 won, and what sets Jinsim Wang Donkkaseu apart from other cutlet places is the self-serve lettuce for wrapping cutlet, rice and ssamjang (soybean dipping paste). Portions were generous enough to take the leftovers home in a to-go box, and registering your car at the counter gets 2 hours of free parking.

Hi everyone! It's Matdol, who loves good food and traveling. Today I visited Jinsim Wang Donkkaseu in Naju, famous for pork cutlets, with the kids.

When I visited Jinsim Wang Donkkaseu, the phrase 'wang donkkaseu made with sincerity' caught my eye. The exterior looked clean from the outside too.

There were so many other menu items too, it was really hard to decide what to eat. We ended up ordering one jjol donkkaseu and two wang donkkaseu.

Our order of wang donkkaseu and jjol donkkaseu

We grabbed kimchi, kkakdugi, ssamjang, lettuce, and the kids' spoons and forks from the self-serve bar.

Before digging into the cutlets, we also scooped out some soup ourselves. Pepper was there too if you want to add some to taste.

The pork cutlet place where you wrap the cutlet in lettuce

At first I wondered, why is there lettuce here? What set Jinsim Wang Donkkaseu apart from other cutlet restaurants is that you can wrap your donkkaseu (pork cutlet) in lettuce.

A serving robot brought out our order. The kids stared at it in amazement.

How did the wang donkkaseu and jjol donkkaseu taste?

True to the name wang donkkaseu (giant pork cutlet), the plate was huge and the cutlet itself was really big. It came with pickled peppers, rice, corn kernels, and salad. When ordering you can choose whether to have the sauce poured over (bumeok) or served for dipping (jjikmeok).

My husband skillfully cut up the cutlet for us. The crispy breading held moist pork inside just right — crunchy outside, tender inside.

The Jinsim jjol donkkaseu comes with jjolmyeon (chewy spicy cold noodles) alongside the cutlet. We asked for the sauce on the side. The spicy-sweet seasoning with crunchy vegetables in the jjolmyeon paired really well with the cutlet.

Eating the jjolmyeon together with the cutlet cut through the richness and had us inhaling every last bite.

Seasoned jjolmyeon with a piece of cutlet

We wrapped cutlet, rice, and ssamjang in lettuce and ate it that way several times. It's a different kind of delicious from grilled meat wraps — genuinely tasty.

We also wrapped the jjolmyeon with the cutlet in lettuce, and the combination of spicy and nutty flavors worked really well together.

We also served ourselves some broth, and eating it alongside the cutlet made things sit more comfortably in the stomach.

High chairs, leftover cutlet to go and 2 hours of free parking

There are baby chairs near the entrance. And they're set up so you can take leftover cutlet home.

We ate until we were full, and since our kid's cutlet was left over, we packed it in a box to take home. It always feels wasteful to throw food away, so it's great that leftover cutlet can be packed up.

After finishing your meal, registering your car gets you 2 hours of free parking. Since the restaurant has its own parking lot too, that's really convenient.

Is Jinsim Wang Donkkaseu in Naju worth a visit?

Jinsim Wang Donkkaseu serves very generous portions that should satisfy even big eaters. It was also nice that leftover cutlet could be neatly packed up in a to-go container to take home. Beyond the crispy cutlet, there's a wide range of choices like jjolmyeon, udon, and more, making it a great spot for the whole family to eat out together, from kids to grandparents.
