Seating inside and why there is no smoke to worry about

The tables inside Imdaejang Daejeon Dunsan Branch had comfortable spacing so I didn't have to worry about the next table over, and since the meat is grilled and brought to you, there was no chaos from smoke or smells.

At a lot of BBQ places, grilling the meat yourself at the table can get chaotic with smoke and smells, but here the meat comes already grilled, so you can just sit and focus on the food haha. It also seemed like a good spot for a meal with a bigger group or a company dinner.

Menu lineup and what comes with every table

This Galleria-area Daejeon BBQ spot, Imdaejang, had a great range of cuts like pork neck, pork belly, and pork skin, plus side dishes that go well with meat like naengmyeon (cold noodles), kimchi jjigae, and steamed egg. We ordered the grilled platter set!

What's in the medium grilled platter set (2-3 people, 610g)

This is the medium grilled platter set (for 2-3) with pork neck, pork belly, and pork skin all served on one platter. Having it all come out together made for a hearty-looking spread that got my mouth watering.

I also loved that alongside the meat, you get sides to eat with it like kimchi, bean sprouts, minari (water dropwort), garlic, and mushrooms. Not having to grill the meat yourself at the table meant we could enjoy it already cooked by a professional, which made it easy to focus on the food and chat comfortably with everyone.

Pork neck

I tried the pork neck first, and it was clean-tasting but still juicy. You know how pork neck can turn dry if it's overcooked? It was grilled just right, so it stayed tender and easy to eat haha. It was delicious dipped lightly in salt, and it also paired well with ssamjang or the special sauce.

Pork belly

My favorite, pork belly~~!! Grilled to a nice golden color with a good ratio of lean meat to fat, it's delicious plain, but eating it with kimchi or bean sprouts made for such a good combo that I kept reaching for more. Being able to eat several cuts at once was fun too — going from pork neck to pork belly to pork skin and back again.

Half portion of pork skin

Once you try the pork skin at this Galleria-area Daejeon BBQ spot, Imdaejang, you won't be able to eat pork skin anywhere else... The domestic special-recipe pork skin had a chewy, savory texture that was really satisfying, with a charm all its own compared to the pork neck and belly.

Pork skin can be a hassle to grill yourself since the oil tends to splatter, so having it come out already grilled made it much easier to enjoy.

Sides: steamed egg and Korean pork kimchi jjigae

It felt like a waste to just eat meat, so we also ordered steamed egg (₩3,000) and kimchi jjigae (₩5,900). The pork kimchi jjigae had a rich harmony of pork and domestic kimchi! The spicy, tangy flavor was excellent, and having steamed egg on the side is great for a softer bite in between the meat.

The fluffy steamed egg was soft enough to be a full meal with just rice. The kimchi jjigae was spicy in a way that paired well with the meat, and it also went great with rice. Taking a spoonful of kimchi jjigae between bites of meat really refreshed my appetite! It felt like an essential combo when eating BBQ!
