In short

Plate Dunsan Branch is an Italian restaurant on the second floor near Timeworld department store in Dunsan-dong, Seo-gu, Daejeon, where you pick your pasta from 12 house-made fresh noodles. Visiting on a weekday early evening with a toddler, the writer ordered the fire-grilled chapsteak pizza at 22,900 won and the creamy rosé pasta set at 14,900 won with squid ink noodles, and staff brought baby dishware, disposable utensils and a high chair. A while back, my son Dohyun, my husband and I went out to eat in Dunsan-dong for the first time in a while, haha😄 When you're eating out with a kid, you naturally start looking for menu items they can actually eat. This time we went to Plate in Dunsan-dong for pizza and pasta.

Weekday early evening at Plate Dunsan: window seats with a tree-lined street view

We visited on a weekday early evening. Because of that, we got to sit by the window💚 The green tree-lined view through the big windows really set the mood, right?

I'd also recommend this as a Dunsan-dong date spot given the atmosphere. I heard weekends get busy enough that there's a wait.

How to order at Plate Dunsan and pick from 12 pasta noodles

At Plate Dunsan Branch, you order by checking boxes on a paper menu, and the set menus have really good composition and good prices too.

What makes this pizza and pasta spot in Dunsan-dong special is the noodle-selection menu. They use handmade fresh noodles, which makes it even more special.

Instead of indecisive me, my son picked noodle No. 3, the squid ink spaghetti, lol. Oh- but how did he know squid ink noodles were tasty? He must really be on his second life...🤔

Why Plate Dunsan Branch works with a toddler: baby dishware and a high chair

Plate Dunsan Branch kindly brings out baby dishware too👍🏻 They gave us disposable spoons and forks so nothing felt dangerous, which was great! Restaurant dishware always feels heavy and risky, lol.

What we ordered at Plate Dunsan and what it cost

After we ordered, they brought out adult dishware too. What we ordered: fire-grilled chapsteak pizza for 22,900 won, and creamy rosé pasta (set) for 14,900 won.

They first brought out the salad, bread, and soup that came with the set.

The salad was so fresh and the dressing was delicious!

They also brought out the Bushman bread that my son loves so much!!

And the tasty soup... I really, really recommend this set.

And then our order arrived: the fire-grilled chapsteak pizza and the creamy rosé pasta (squid ink noodles)!

Fire-grilled chapsteak pizza: could a child eat it?

We tried the pizza first. True to its name, it had chapsteak (stir-fried chunk steak) piled on top, so it felt a bit heartier than a regular topping pizza. With the meat topping on top of everything, one slice felt more filling than pizza alone.

My son showed interest the moment he saw the pizza, so I cut it into bite-sized pieces for him. The edge of the crust was a bit spicy so we only shared the center part, and Dohyun seemed to enjoy it and ate well, haha.

And then the pasta I was most looking forward to that day! We chose squid ink spaghetti for our creamy rosé pasta. Even with the same pasta, the texture and eating experience change depending on which noodle you pick.

At first I wondered if Dohyun would find the black noodles strange, but nope, lol... He took one bite and ended up eating way more than I expected.😂 He ate so well that day that his mom and dad kept giving him more from our own portions. Watching him go "more please~" while eating made my heart swell too, haha.

Thanks to the creamy rosé sauce, it blended smoothly with the noodles. When picking a dish to eat with a kid, you tend to avoid anything too spicy or intense, so having a pasta option like this made it easy to share.

And there's a high chair too~
