Today I went looking for an upscale Chinese restaurant in Daejeon and found a place people said had both great atmosphere and great food. I wanted somewhere clean and refined to enjoy good Chinese food. 😆 This is 'Macheonchwi' (마천취), a Chinese restaurant in Mannyeon-dong, Seo-gu, Daejeon!

What the private rooms at Macheonchwi in Mannyeon-dong are like
The inside of Macheonchwi has a cozy atmosphere with warm wood-tone interiors and soft lighting. Walking through the door, the place was spotlessly organized, just as you'd expect from a Daejeon favorite. 😄

The tables were spaced generously apart so I could eat comfortably without worrying about the neighboring table. There's also a private room space, which would be perfect for gatherings! I'd genuinely recommend this as a Chinese restaurant in Daejeon with private rooms. 👍

Once we sat down, they set the table neatly with the basics. Along with clean tableware, they brought out the side dishes — the jajai (pickled mustard tuber) was especially good!

What comes with the 18,000 won Modern Simple Set
Macheonchwi's Modern Simple Set is ₩18,000 per person and comes with ryu sansul, chili shrimp, tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork), a main dish (choice of jjajangmyeon or jjamppong), and ice cream for dessert. The menu had everything from course meals to à la carte dishes, but we wanted to try a variety, so we ordered the Modern Simple Set. 😄

Yusanseul and chili shrimp
The ryu sansul (stir-fried seafood and vegetables) came out first, and you could really taste the freshness of the seafood. Plump shrimp and mushrooms blended with a smooth sauce for an upscale flavor.

The chili shrimp had plump shrimp piled generously in a sweet-and-sour sauce, and it was absolutely delicious! 😆 It's a flavor kids would like too, so it seems like a great dish for family meals.

Tangsuyuk with the sauce served on the side
And then came the tangsuyuk I'd been looking forward to! Crispy outside, chewy inside, with absolutely no gamey pork smell — it was genuinely the best. 💯 They served the sauce separately so I could eat it to my taste, and the sauce seasoning was spot on and delicious!

The main course: jjajangmyeon or jjamppong
For the main dish, we could choose between jjajangmyeon (black bean noodles) and jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup).

The jjajangmyeon had a rich chunjang (black bean sauce) that paired well with the chewy noodles — really tasty.

The jjamppong had a spicy, refreshing broth packed with all kinds of seafood — it would be perfect for a hangover cure. 😊 The staff were also super friendly, which made the whole meal feel good. When serving the food, they explained everything thoroughly and kindly, which made it even more satisfying. 😊

Dessert and where to park at Macheonchwi
The last part of the Modern Simple Set was the dessert ice cream. Its refreshing flavor cleaned up my palate and gave the meal a nice finish.
The food was great, the atmosphere was great, and the staff were friendly — a fully satisfying visit.

Parking was convenient since we could use the building's basement parking lot.

The parking space was ample and well maintained, so I could visit without any parking worries.
