When we arrived a little after 4 p.m., we were the first guests. About an hour later, though, it was nearly full.

The dining room is spacious, with room between the tables, and it looked like groups were stopping in for an easy first or second round of drinks and food.

Information about Nanchuk Matdon pork
Introduction to the Nanchuk Matdon breed

Nanchuk Matdon? A pig breed developed by the National Institute of Animal Science to retain the characteristics of Jeju black pork while maximizing its meat texture and color.

The most popular option is the platter (600g), and there are also black pork gabrisal (pork shoulder blade) and black pork hangjeongsal (pork jowl).

There are bone-in pork loin and fresh ribs, too, making this a better menu for anyone who likes meat to gnaw from the bone. I had heard that a meat restaurant selling fresh ribs is a good one—and, sure enough, Pork80 had them too!

There are marinated ribs, meal dishes, and desserts as well, so we ordered sides that a baby could eat too. Pork Rice is bibimbap mixed with mel stew, and I had never seen it before haha. I wanted to order it for dessert because I was curious about how it looked, but I was too full—such a shame I couldn’t try it.

Pork traceability information

There was a pork traceability sheet by the counter, which really boosted my confidence! Chewy texture and umami? Impossible to resist!

Nanchuk Matdon pork platter (600g): since I was having Jeju black pork grilled over traditional charcoal, I ordered the most generous set. It came with seven side dishes, including seasoned raw crab haha.

By the way, the staff grill the meat themselves, so all we had to do was wait and drool haha. The seasoned raw crab was especially as good as what you would get at a specialty restaurant. When a guest at the next table, who seemed like a regular, ordered extra soy-marinated crab as soon as they sat down, I thought, wow, even the side dishes here are the real deal haha.

Pork80 Jeju Airport Branch is a Nanchuk Matdon favorite in Nohyeong-dong where you do not have to worry about parking and the staff grill the meat for you.

Nanchuk Matdon pork with rich juices

When the meat first arrived, I worried it would taste quite fatty because there was so much white on it. But once I tried it, it was simply delicious pork with lots of rich, nutty juices.

Once it was cooked, they neatly placed it to one side where it could stay warm, and the mushrooms and scallions were grilled too.

Mel stew and cheese-bomb steamed egg

Then came the Jeju black pork feast time haha. It was thicker than typical camping meat, so it had a great chew without being tough.

But you would be sorry not to have the mel stew too, right? It is not just overwhelmingly salty mel stew; the sauce has a savory fermented-bean flavor mixed in, so I recommend trying it!

Cheese-bomb steamed egg: it was a steamed egg that was easy for a baby to eat, but we ended up eating it too haha. Fluffy steamed egg and juicy meat—a perfect combo.
