Jeju seafood restaurant breakfast set with ocean views: Soseom Jeonbok
In short
Soseom Jeonbok is a seafood restaurant on Udo Island in Jeju, where diners can enjoy abalone dishes overlooking the sea. I rode a scooter there and had the 48,000 won Honryesang Set with abalone stone-pot soup, sea urchin seaweed soup, abalone rice, and butter-grilled abalone. Verdict: a satisfying ocean-view first meal with a seriously generous abalone spread.

For the first meal I’d been saving for my Udo trip, I flew, took a ferry, then zipped over on a scooter to Soseom Jeonbok!

I’m back with a review that satisfied me from the view to the food.

A place I’d happily return to. Above all, the ocean view of the Udo sea stretching out before you was amazing, and I was so pleased by the generous full spread of abalone dishes at such a reasonable price.

Finding Soseom Jeonbok by scooter
I went by scooter that day, put it into my navigation, and zoomed right over. On the way, I really started to feel like I was on Udo.

It’s close to Geommeolle Beach, so it’s in a great spot to stop for a meal after sightseeing.
Floor-to-ceiling windows facing the Udo sea
The first thing that caught my eye when I entered was the wide floor-to-ceiling window.

The blue sea opened up refreshingly outside the window, so I was already feeling properly on Udo before the food even arrived.

When you eat while traveling, taste matters, but this kind of atmosphere matters too, you know. Sitting there looking at the sea, I understood why I’d made such a fuss getting here first thing in the morning.
A variety of abalone dishes in the Honryesang Set
Soseom Jeonbok has a wide range of abalone dishes, including abalone stone-pot soup, abalone sea urchin seaweed soup, abalone rice, mulhoe (cold raw fish soup), and butter-grilled abalone.

We wanted to try a bit of everything, so we ordered the Honryesang Set. It costs ₩48,000 and comes with two individual dishes plus butter-grilled abalone.

There was a good amount even for two people, and it was absolutely packed with abalone, so I was truly thrilled with the value.
A full spread memorable from the side dishes onward
We tried the side dishes while waiting for the food, and I was already sold from there.

There was kimchi and seasoned vegetables, but I especially loved the black pork sanjeok (skewered meat patty) served sizzling hot on a stone plate. It tasted even better while it was warm, haha.

And personally, the most memorable thing was the geu-jeotgal, fermented abalone innards. I expected it to be salty, but it had more deep savory flavor than saltiness, and it was such a great match spooned over the black pork sanjeok or abalone rice.

The soy-marinated crab wasn’t overly seasoned either, so it was easy to enjoy, and I heard that both it and the geu-jeotgal can be delivered.

After trying them myself, I thought they’d be well worth ordering to eat at home too.
Abalone stone-pot soup and sea urchin seaweed soup
For our mains, we had abalone stone-pot soup and abalone sea urchin seaweed soup.

First, the abalone sea urchin seaweed soup had a subtle sea urchin aroma in the broth and tasted wonderfully clean and refreshing. It had plenty of abalone too, so I thought it would make a filling meal with rice mixed in.

The abalone stone-pot soup had a slightly spicier broth, and it was generously filled with seafood including blue crab, shrimp, and clams. Every spoonful of broth had a deep seafood flavor.

It was lightly spicy and refreshing, the kind of flavor that would work brilliantly as a hangover cure after rich food on a trip, haha.

The abalone rice was also topped generously with abalone and came with gim (roasted seaweed), making it wonderfully nutty and satisfying.

Add a little of the geu-jeotgal we had earlier, and it’s a real delicacy! The butter-grilled abalone included in the set came as six pieces in total; they were plump and easy for two people to share.

The butter aroma made them nutty, while their chewy texture really came through.
After eating it all, it felt like I’d sampled so many different abalone dishes from one Honryesang Set. Such a substantial meal.

A worthwhile first meal with an ocean view
What I loved most after this visit was that, true to an Udo favorite, even the atmosphere felt perfect. I liked Soseom Jeonbok from the fact that you can dine while looking at the sea, and it felt like I got to eat all the abalone I could possibly want for this price—so generous.

From the black pork sanjeok and geu-jeotgal served as side dishes to the main abalone stone-pot soup and abalone sea urchin seaweed soup, everything tasted good overall. If you’re looking for a good restaurant on Jeju’s Udo Island where you can enjoy both an ocean view and generous abalone dishes, this is one to remember. I think it would be a nice visit for anyone looking for Udo restaurant recommendations.

So proud to have found a great restaurant on Jeju’s Udo Island. It was a long way, but such a worthwhile first meal!!
