Jeju grilled fish restaurant in Yongdam, first flounder: Naneun Jigeum
In short
Naneun Jigeum Saengseoni Meokgo Sipda Yongdam Airport Branch is a Korean restaurant in Yongdam, Jeju, where you can eat mixed grilled fish together with a stew. We ordered the Keun-adeul (Eldest Son) set for 2 and had a filling spread of mackerel, cutlassfish, flounder and yellow croaker with a spicy sundubu (soft tofu) stew. A solid choice when you want a generous grilled fish table close to Jeju Airport.

A grilled fish spread in Yongdam, close to Jeju Airport
Naneun Jigeum Saengseoni Meokgo Sipda Yongdam Airport Branch (나는지금생선이먹고싶다 용담공항점) is over in the Yongdam area close to Jeju Airport, so it's a good place to drop in for the first meal of your trip or the last meal before you leave Jeju.

What's the seating like inside?
The outside was clean, and once I went in there were quite a few more seats than I expected.

Further inside there are several tables set up, roughly 8 of them, so it looked fine for a family meal too.

And by the entrance you can see the fish that have already been pre-grilled! They grill the fish ahead of time and then finish it off and serve it once an order comes in, so you don't have to wait long for the food to arrive, which I liked too!! 🐟

What's in the Keun-adeul set
Above all, the menu names are just too cute 💓 From Keun-adeul (Eldest Son) and Jageun-adeul (Younger Son) to Appa (Dad) and Eomma (Mom), the names are so unusual that reading the menu was fun in itself hahaha

We ordered the Keun-adeul set for 2! The Keun-adeul set is mixed grilled fish plus one stew of your choice, and the mixed grilled fish comes with mackerel, cutlassfish, flounder and yellow croaker. For the stew you can pick from cheonggukjang (rich fermented soybean stew), sundubu (soft tofu stew) or kimchi stew. And for ₩2,000 extra you can swap the flounder or the croaker for okdom (tilefish).

And besides the menus for people who only want fish, there's also a mackerel + bossam (boiled pork slices) set for meat lovers, and separate menus that work well for eating alone, so there was quite a range to choose from.

They're also running a review event, so if you're planning to visit, that's worth keeping in mind as well.
Self-serve corner and side dishes
The basic side dishes were kkakdugi (cubed radish kimchi), seasoned seaweed, seasoned eggplant, stir-fried fish cake, seasoned bean sprouts and so on.

The sides came out neat and tidy, and anything you ran low on you could go and get yourself from the self-serve corner, which was convenient.

Keun-adeul set for 2, and the flounder was the standout
And then, at last, the Keun-adeul set for 2! Wow... with the whole table filled up, just looking at it felt filling. With grilled fish and a stew, it's the kind of spread where one bowl of rice might leave you wanting a little more 🤤💛

The grilled fish came out generously on one plate, mackerel, cutlassfish, flounder and croaker, and the flesh was thick all round with the outside grilled nice and crisp.

The flounder in particular: it was my first time properly eating grilled flounder, and it was better than I expected....!!✨ It was lighter than I thought it would be, and the flesh was so tender that I kept reaching for more. The grilled mackerel and the croaker are, as always, best eaten with a big heap of flesh piled on top of your rice ~~~ Salty fish on warm rice, what more is there to say. The cutlassfish is a bit of a hassle to bone, but once you actually pick the flesh off and taste it, it's truly the real deal. The flesh was tender and it was so good eaten with rice.

And the sundubu stew that came with it! It had a slightly spicy kick that went really well with the grilled fish, and my partner liked it best of all 💗💗💗 A spoonful of that spicy sundubu in between bites of grilled fish cut through the richness, so it was the kind of taste that keeps you eating.

A filling meal near Jeju Airport
This place was especially good for when you want a hearty, filling meal near Jeju Airport. You get to eat a variety of fish and a stew comes with it, so as a single meal it's well put together. It should also suit anyone traveling around Jeju who goes looking for grilled fish when they want something other than black pork or seafood. And since it's so close to Jeju Airport, it's easy to slot into your itinerary, so anyone looking for good restaurants near Jeju Airport might want to keep it in mind. If you love grilled fish like I do, it's worth stopping by at least once! If you want a generously laid-out grilled fish spread, I recommend Naneun Jigeum Saengseoni Meokgo Sipda Yongdam Airport Branch :)
