Jeju Korean restaurant with beef tripe dakdoritang: Deureomtong
In short
Deureomtong Sotttukkeong Dakdoritang is a Korean restaurant in Nohyeong-dong, Jeju. We had the ₩44,000 beef tripe dakdoritang for two with ramen noodles, but the portion was so generous that we could not even finish the meat. A great pick for a hearty, spicy meal with drinks.

Nohyeong-dong, Jeju pot-lid dakdoritang restaurant and parking
Just as the name suggests, this is a place where you cook dakdoritang (spicy braised chicken stew) on a big pot lid set over a drum. It is open daily from 11:00 until 03:00 the following day, with a break from 15:00 to 16:30 and last orders at 02:00. There is room for two cars beside the building, but parking is not especially plentiful, so I recommend using a nearby public parking lot if it is full.

The restaurant was quite spacious and had lots of tables.

Each table had its own drum where you could turn on the gas flame, and the tables seated four. It is nice for a casual visit as a pair, but I also saw quite a few groups of four having dakdoritang with drinks, haha. The tables were not cramped together and there was plenty of space, so there was none of that discomfort of conversations blending with the next table.

There was a tablet at every table, so ordering from our seats was easy. I could see all the prices at a glance on the wall menu and check our order straight away on the tablet, which was convenient.

The side dishes are self-serve. Kimchi, pickled chili peppers, macaroni salad, and other sides that go well with dakdoritang are provided, and you can refill them at the self-service bar if you need more.

The spoon and chopstick sets were neatly wrapped, too.

There are clothes hangers on the wall and aprons available as well, just so you know.

A generous portion of beef tripe dakdoritang for two
That day, we ordered the beef tripe dakdoritang for two, ₩44,000 total or ₩22,000 per person; all menu items require an order for at least two. I normally love dakdoritang anyway, but I have really been craving Korean beef tripe lately, so I picked this without hesitation! It arrived on a huge pot lid, and the moment I saw it, wow, that is a massive portion... The chicken is hiding under the bean sprouts, haha.

For two portions, I expected just about enough for the two of us, but I was surprised by how much food filled the pot lid. There was plenty of chicken and Korean beef tripe, of course, along with bean sprouts, green onions, onions, rice cakes, quail eggs, and vegetables. You can eat it after boiling it for 10 minutes. When the alarm goes off after 10 minutes, the staff check the food and adjust the gas flame for you.

We immediately brought over some ramen noodles from the self-service bar and tossed them in~

Unlimited ramen noodle refills at lunchtime
There is one nice reason to visit at lunchtime. During lunch hours, you can get unlimited ramen noodle refills. The dakdoritang broth will be bubbling away, and when you add ramen noodles and cook them, the seasoning soaks right in and tastes so good. My partner likes their noodles firm, so we scooped them out quickly and slurped them up. The basic portion is already huge, and with ramen noodles added, it seemed like a real perk for anyone who wants to eat a ton at lunch!

Big pieces of chicken and rich Korean beef tripe
The chicken pieces were big and there was so much meat that it felt like it never went down, no matter how much we ate. Cooking it according to the timer gave it just the right doneness, and it was tender all the way through. I had been craving tripe so much lately (my feed is currently covered in tripe dakdoritang), and this really satisfied that craving because the pieces were large and there was plenty of it. There were lots of vegetables, too, so they were good to eat with the meat.
As the broth cooked longer, it thickened and grew deeper in flavor. The rich, nutty flavor of the Korean beef tripe joined the spicy dakdoritang broth, making it feel even richer and more substantial. They said broth refills are available, by the way, so if you are drinking, it might be nice to let it reduce and add more broth as you go. If you like tripe, try ordering the beef tripe dakdoritang rather than the regular dakdoritang.

A hearty menu for drinks and sharing
The portion was truly generous, and since broth refills are available, I think people who enjoy drinks would like it. Even at lunchtime, there were groups of three or four having it with drinks. Since it stays open until 03:00, it also seems like somewhere people with evening drinking plans can come and sit back for a long time.
Before eating, I was even thinking about fried rice at the end. But in the end, we could not finish it, haha. We do not usually leave food behind, but it was genuinely not easy to finish everything here. Normally, with two portions, you finish with fried rice and that is just right—but we could not even finish all the meat, let alone fried rice. The basic menu is generous in itself, so those with smaller appetites may want to keep that in mind when ordering. On the other hand, if several people are visiting or you want a big dish to have with drinks, you will be able to eat very generously.

If you are looking for a dinner to share with several people in Nohyeong-dong, or a place to have dakdoritang with a drink, it could be worth a visit.
