What does Seowon Angil Hapjeong look like, outside and in?

🪑 The exterior/interior of Seowon Angil Hapjeong

When I think of cafés in Seogyo-dong, I picture small, cozy places tucked into alleys — so I was surprised to find ☕️Seowon Angil Hapjeong, a genuinely huge café.

It's a ☕️two-floor café close to Hapjeong Station, and it's not just big for the sake of being big — each area has a slightly different mood, so it was fun to walk around and explore.

Seowon Angil is decorated mostly around 🌳wood and plants, which gave the whole space a nice impression.

🪑 Here's the feel of the first floor — the 🌿green view through the windows was really pretty. 🪟 Behind the floor-to-ceiling glass you can see trees and plants, so even sitting indoors didn't feel closed-in.

Instead of one big open space, the seating is divided into sections at a comfortable scale,

and the tables and chairs feel a bit different from spot to spot, so it was fun to look around and think 'where should I sit?' 🤔

The second floor closes at 6pm and is mostly group seating

The 2nd floor is only open ⏰from 11am to 6pm, and since I visited for lunch brunch, it was still open when I got there.

The green view🌿 was even prettier than downstairs.

Compared to the 1st floor, the 2nd floor has mostly 🧑🧑🧒🧒group-seating tables,

and the sections felt even more clearly divided.

Honestly, a movie-worthy view🎥.

A large pet-friendly café in Hapjeong

Another notable thing — this is a 🐶pet-friendly café. It's not easy to find a brunch café this big near Hapjeong Station that's also dog-friendly.

I actually ran into a lot of cute dogs while I was there. This one kept staring at me — you eating well, ma'am? lol

What's on the menu at Seowon Angil Hapjeong

Seowon Angil is a ☕️café that serves coffee and a variety of drinks,

but it's also a brunch café with 🥗salads, soups, open sandwiches, pasta, and other full meal-brunch options.

There's a range of 🥐house-made bakery items too,

plus cake, beer, wine, and coffee beans.

📝 What I ordered: Angil Breakfast & Small Soup (₩22,000) Ricotta Garden Salad (₩18,000)

That day I decided to have a 🍽️proper full brunch.

Angil Breakfast & Small Soup (₩22,000): what comes on the plate

This is Seowon Angil's signature brunch dish — basically an 🍽️American-style open brunch plate.

It comes with crispy-fried bacon, natto (fermented soybeans), mushrooms, and cherry tomatoes,

🍳a sunny-side-up egg, a 🥗fresh vegetable salad, and three slices of 🥖healthy sourdough bread.

The sauces were 🥫ketchup and 🍊tangerine jam.

Personally, the most distinctive part was the 🍊tangerine jam. Unlike the sweet strawberry or blueberry jam you usually see, the tart, bright flavor of tangerine went really well with the sourdough.

🥓 The bacon and sausage weren't too salty, which I appreciated — with American-style brunch elsewhere, I always end up leaving the ham because it's too salty, but here it was just salty enough to enjoy with the bread.

The small soup: button mushroom soup with real chunks

The mini soup served alongside is a 🍄mushroom soup.

It's not a fully smooth, watery soup — you can actually chew on 🍄chunks of mushroom in it.

The mushroom pieces weren't big, but there was a lot of them, so the soup alone felt filling enough to be a meal.

The sourdough that comes with it is house-made, so it's a very 💪🏻wholesome bread.

That said, it had a bit of the chewy texture typical of 🥖healthy bread — I actually liked dunking it in the soup until it went slightly soggy.

Eggs, bacon, sausage, and vegetables, all on one plate — a signature brunch you can enjoy in many different ways👍🏻.

Ricotta Garden Salad (₩18,000): orange and cherry tomatoes in September

A salad of 🥗fresh vegetables topped with 🧀ricotta cheese, 🥜nuts, and 🍊fruit.

Honestly, I expected something appetizer-sized when I heard 'salad,' but I was surprised by how 🍽️huge the plate was — bigger than the breakfast plate, actually. It's technically a salad, but it works as a full meal.

The fruit seems to change with the season — when I visited in September, it had 🍊orange and 🍅seasonal cherry tomatoes.

Personally I preferred the 🍅cherry tomatoes to the orange — being in season, they were really, really sweet.

But what I loved most was the 🧀ricotta cheese. Ricotta usually comes in soft clumps, but this one was thicker and denser, almost crumbling like 🧂powder — kind of like what you'd get if you drained almost all the whey out of Greek yogurt🫢.

The 🥜nuts on top were also crushed almost to a powder, adding a nutty crunch with every bite.

Both the space and the food were spot-on at 🥰Seowon Angil Hapjeong.
