Hapjeong evening café after work: ragù pasta, Seowon Angil
In short
Seowon Angil Hapjeong is a two-floor, gallery-like brunch café in Seogyo-dong near Hapjeong Station in Mapo, Seoul. On a solo visit after work in the evening, the order was the Seowon Angil ragù pasta, a basil tomato ade and the day's last slice of Basque cheesecake; the second floor, open only until 6pm, was just for looking. Seowon Angil Hapjeong delivered on both the atmosphere and the deep flavor of the ragù sauce.

A large café in the city with a mood like a scene out of a movie — Seowon Angil Hapjeong.
✔️ Seowon Angil ragù pasta, Basque cheesecake, basil tomato ade
A record kept with a bit of indulgence, because I stumbled onto a place I loved more than expected right after work. I never imagined a Hapjeong-style large café this stylish and pretty was hiding this close to Hapjeong Station.
Seowon Angil Hapjeong near Hapjeong Station: a first floor like an art gallery
Seowon Angil Hapjeong is a two-floor large café at 34 Jandari-ro 3-gil, Mapo-gu, Seoul, close to Hapjeong Station. Even the exterior gave off a distinct sensibility, and stepping inside revealed a spacious, artistic two-floor space that welcomed me in.

Why the second floor at Seowon Angil Hapjeong closes at 6pm
The second floor of Seowon Angil Hapjeong is only accessible from 11:00 to 18:00. I already thought the first floor's interior was stylish, but heading upstairs made me gasp out loud.
Just a heads up: since the second floor is only open until 6pm, I could only look around before heading back down — next time I'm planning to visit early on a weekend and actually enjoy a seat up there.

Art pieces are carefully arranged throughout the space, so it felt a bit like stepping onto a Hong Kong film set or into a gallery café. Genuinely, this was a Seogyo-dong restaurant café with an artistic eye.
Seowon Angil ragù pasta and basil tomato ade: QR menu, counter ordering
At Seowon Angil Hapjeong, you check the menu via the QR code on your table, then place your order at the 1F counter. I settled into a seat at one of the striking red tables on the first floor.

After debating what to order, I went with the signature Seowon Angil ragù pasta, a refreshing basil tomato ade, and Basque cheesecake for dessert. When I ordered, the staff mentioned the Basque cheesecake was down to its very last slice — and inside I was thrilled, thinking 'am I just the luckiest girl today?' 😄

A little while later the ragù pasta arrived, and the plating matched the space so well it looked less like food and more like a piece of art.

But wait... I thought this place was just about the vibe, turns out it's also a ragù pasta gem?😮
The heavy, savory flavor of the ragù sauce comes through richly, and the occasional kick of peperoncino keeps it from ever feeling too heavy.

Scooping the sauce up with the crispy, savory bread that came alongside, then taking a sip of the refreshing basil tomato ade, made for a truly perfect combination. This more than earns its place as a pasta restaurant among Hapjeong brunch cafés.
The last slice: how the Basque cheesecake at Seowon Angil Hapjeong tastes
Seowon Angil Hapjeong's Basque cheesecake is popular enough to sell out by evening. After filling up on the delicious pasta, I happily moved on to dessert time with the Basque cheesecake that had just barely been left. One bite in, I understood exactly why this popular dessert sells out so early.

The outside was savory while the inside was moist and dense, melting softly in the mouth. A rich cheese aroma spread generously, and I finished off the last bite in no time.
Even the napkins here had such pretty design that I couldn't help but photograph them.
With tasty brunch dishes, desserts, and a wide variety of drinks all on offer, this was a compelling Hapjeong-style large café.
Pet-friendly and lit up at night: a Hapjeong café worth returning to
Seowon Angil Hapjeong welcomes pets, and at night the exterior lighting turns on for a completely different mood from daytime. When I came out after finishing my meal, night had fallen and the café's exterior was softly lit up — giving off a different, alluring atmosphere from daytime. It's a dog-friendly brunch café in Hapjeong, so I definitely want to come back with my own lovable pup sometime.
From the unmatched artistic atmosphere to the moving pasta and the kind service, every moment here was satisfying. It was an especially happy day, like I'd found a secret hideout café in Hapjeong that only I knew about.
If you want to enjoy special pasta and dessert in a beautiful space, Seowon Angil Hapjeong is well worth the visit.
