Cheongdam Dak Kalguksu in Bokjeong-dong on a weekday evening
Cheongdam Dak Kalguksu is a chicken kalguksu (knife-cut noodle soup) restaurant in Bokjeong-dong, Sujeong-gu, Seongnam. Now that the weather's getting chilly and I start craving warm soup at this Bokjeong-dong kalguksu spot, I paid a visit~

Inside, there were multiple tables set up, looking suitable for solo diners, family meals, or larger groups alike~ Since it was a weekday evening, a lot of delivery orders were coming in too!!

True to being a kalguksu specialty restaurant, the menu had a wide variety centered on dak kalguksu, plus samgye kalguksu (ginseng chicken noodle soup), gomtang (bone broth soup), spicy chicken stew, suyuk, and mandu!! As soon as I walked in I caught a whiff of medicinal herbs — if you order the gomtang dishes, you get to enjoy that herbal aroma too!

I ordered the Cheongdam Dak Kalguksu (egg) + tasting suyuk 1-person set for ₩22,500, and added a meat king mandu on the side~ Having a 1-person set made this place perfect for solo dining~

The self-serve side dish bar and spicy kimchi
Spicy chicken stew is the signature dish of Cheongdam Dak Kalguksu, this Bokjeong-dong kalguksu favorite, recommended when you want something fiery. Off to one side of the restaurant was a self-serve corner with banchan, tableware, and both spicy and non-spicy kimchi! Being able to grab as much as you need without feeling awkward mid-meal was convenient haha

The full table: chicken kalguksu, suyuk and meat king mandu
Once everything was laid out, it looked incredibly hearty~ With suyuk and mandu alongside the kalguksu, it felt less like a single bowl of noodles and more like a proper full spread~ haha

Inside the soft, moist steamed mandu wrapper was a filling packed with meat and vegetables!! Cutting one in half revealed a solidly stuffed interior, and alternating bites of warm kalguksu broth and mandu went really well together~

The suyuk came out sliced thin and tender, with a nice balance of lean meat and fat mixed together~

On one side of the plate was a dipping sauce and radish salad, along with garlic and cheongyang chili!!

How was the broth in the Cheongdam Dak Kalguksu (egg)?
The main dish, Cheongdam Dak Kalguksu, arrived in a large stainless steel bowl with a generous amount of broth~ The milky broth had egg swirled through it, topped with gim flakes and scallion, looking really appetizing!!

With generous chicken toppings especially, I could subtly pick up the savory aroma of gim in the broth~
The broth wasn't harsh at all, going down smooth — refreshing yet warming~ That meant it paired well with side dishes like suyuk or mandu without the flavors clashing~

With the egg mixed in, the broth felt even softer, and scooping up gim flakes and scallion together added a nutty flavor. Dipping a piece of suyuk in the kalguksu broth midway through was also pretty good. Unlike eating it plain, adding the warm broth to the meat brought out a moist texture haha

Is the set for one worth 22,500 won?
Overall, Cheongdam Dak Kalguksu was true to its name — a great spot to enjoy warm chicken kalguksu broth alongside suyuk and mandu!! Among everything I ate that day, the dak kalguksu topped with egg, gim flakes, and chicken felt the most fundamentally solid, so I'd recommend trying it especially on a chilly, shivery day

If you're looking for warm broth at Cheongdam Dak Kalguksu, this Bokjeong-dong kalguksu spot in Seongnam, I'd recommend pairing the dak kalguksu with suyuk or a meat king mandu~
