A brunch spot worth visiting in Pangyo: Andover

Went to Baekhyeon-dong for brunch with my boyfriend after a while. Bringing you a review of a brand-new brunch place that's less than a year old!

Where Andover is and where to park in Baekhyeon-dong

Andover is a Western-style brunch restaurant tucked inside the Baekhyeon-dong café street in Pangyo, on Pangyoyeok-ro 10beon-gil. Parking gets 1 hour free at the Baekhyeon-dong café street public parking lot. You can also park in the alley near the shop, but it's tight.

How to claim the 1-hour public parking discount

You absolutely need to keep your receipt to get the parking discount. Here's how it works:

• Press the '!!' call button
• Show your receipt at the black slot on the far right labeled 'discount card application'
• Then staff will check the receipt and apply the discount

I was in line but didn't know how to do the receipt verification, so while I was fumbling around, the line behind me got weirdly tangled and an ajusshi (older man) cut in front of me — and I had to wait for everyone behind him too, which added ₩200 in extra fees during that time. I saw him clearly notice I was there first and still slip in ahead of me. Ugh. So here's a detailed guide on how to get the parking discount... sigh.

Closed Mondays. Open Tue–Sun 11:30–22:00 (break time 15:30–17:00).

Table spacing and atmosphere: is Andover good for a first date?

The vibe at Andover was really great. When I searched beforehand, the atmosphere looked kind of meh in photos, so I was on the fence about going, but once I visited it was actually really nice. I'd recommend it as a blind date spot in Bundang/Pangyo too!

Because for a blind date, wide table spacing is really important I think (if your conversation carries over, the tension level goes up big time). Each table at Andover is spacious and the tables are spread far apart, so it was really comfortable to eat there.

Looks like they're close with Ryu Seung-ryong, the actor, interesting! In the photo on the left, it looked like they were also selling bags. Pretty cheap too.

What we ordered at Andover and what it cost

Mushroom cream risotto ₩22,000, Andover lasagna (650g) ₩29,000, burrata tomato salad ₩19,000, iced Americanos ₩4,500 each.

Just going to rattle off what we ate. But seriously, the coffee here is really good. You can choose between acidic or nutty — my boyfriend, who likes acidity, went with acidic, and I got nutty, and both were genuinely delicious. I wasn't expecting anything, so both of us were pleasantly surprised.

The burrata cheese salad came out beautifully plated. The vegetables were all so fresh and the cheese was fresh too — a great start.

Mushroom cream risotto, 22,000 won

Our dish came out a little later than other tables', but once I saw it, I could only nod in approval. The mushrooms in the risotto were sliced so meticulously and beautifully... boss, aren't you worried about getting a herniated disc from all that mushroom cutting? And the mushroom aroma was genuinely fragrant and intense!

The plate got a little messy, but the mushrooms were super thick. I'm not really a mushroom person but the juices came out perfectly and I kept going back for more.

Got a shot of the impressive Americano too. It's a machine-made coffee, so I was a little skeptical while ordering — like, hmm, I hope it's good — but it totally exceeded expectations. Genuinely better than other coffee shops nearby.

Andover lasagna, 650g for 29,000 won

My boyfriend was very satisfied with the lasagna. There's also a smaller portion that comes with baguette, but since he's a lasagna lover, we got the large size. We'd had really delicious lasagna at another brunch place in Baekhyeon-dong before, and he said this one was even better than that. (I actually voted for the other place's lasagna. For me, the mushroom risotto here left a much bigger impression than this lasagna.)

Self-serve bar, stroller access and outdoor tables at Andover

There's also a self-serve bar set up.

As I mentioned, the space is spacious, so even a stroller rolling in like this caused no inconvenience.

The outdoor tables looked great too. There was an elderly gentleman with white hair, dressed really sharply, sitting outside, and he gave the place an even more exotic vibe. I want to work hard, make lots of money, become a stylish grandma, and come back for brunch. Maybe not exactly a 'young granny,' but I want to be the kind of grandma who can chat with the younger crowd.

The owner was super, super kind and easy to talk to at Andover in Pangyo. There are a lot of places on the Baekhyeon-dong café street, but finding a genuinely good one is a whole different story — I hope everyone gets to visit once. Had a great, relaxed time catching up with my boyfriend. Hope the place does really well!
