Hellooo everyone?? My boyfriend is a seaside boy through and through.. he really loves sashimi and can pull off eating 4 pieces at once haha. Today I wanted to let him eat as much as he wanted, so I went straight to Yeongjae Susan in Garak Market!!
You all know Garak Market, right? Haha I went there before for a work dinner of grilled meat and sashimi, but today I'm sneakily going for takeout instead.
Parking and Naver ordering at Yeongjae Susan in Garak Market
Yeongjae Susan is a sashimi shop inside Garak Market, at stall C-10, 1st floor of the sales building in Garak Mall. Naver Maps gave me perfect directions hahaha. The parking lot is seriously huge!!

Since it was takeout today, I brought the car, woohoo, because the great thing is they give customers a 3-hour parking ticket haha.
It'd be convenient to order ahead on Naver!! Plus you can use a 20% discount coupon for Naver orders, so why wouldn't you?

There was an escalator right next to it!! Just ride it up and you're there.
True to a seafood market, styrofoam boxes were stacked everywhere. It already made me excited for how fresh and delicious it would be haha.

The path up to the 1st floor feels a bit desolate..? But keep going up and a whole different world appears.

Tada~ it's amazing that Yeongjae Susan is right in front of the escalator. I really hate having to search around, so having it right there was so nice haha.
Why the gizzard shad platter went from small to medium
Yeongjae Susan has transparently posted prices, so you just pick without any haggling. Since it's fall, I went with jeongwangchamhoe, which includes gizzard shad, flounder, and red seabream.

Look how transparent the price list is!!! I really hate haggling for this kind of thing so I loved this.. You could probably even pre-order like an underwater pirate crew. What a lovely world. They take Kakao Pay too.

Onnuri gift certificate refund, good to know! If you look into this stuff you can really eat cheap — places like Majang-dong, Noryangjin, Garak Market all take Onnuri certificates. Did you know charging them online in advance gets you a pre-discount?

So many combos . . . I agonized hard, but I went with jeongwangchamhoe. Why? Because it's fall. Gotta pay respects to senior gizzard shad.
The display spinning around endlessly with no energy is kind of funny lol. We're just two people eating so I ordered the small, but my seaside-man boyfriend looked a little disappointed, so I thought, alright, let's really go all out. Upgraded to medium!!!!!!!!!!!! (Review: wow the portion was seriously huge)

They said it would take about 10 minutes after ordering! While waiting I looked around like I was at an aquarium haha, saw a huge king crab, whoa.

I'm still a low-level newbie when it comes to fat innkeeper worm and sea cucumber, but I think I can level up? I want to eat every delicacy under the sun . . .

There was more menu on the side too. The owner was super friendly, so if you ask for a recommendation they'll take good care of you!!

The shop was so neatly organized haha. They switched us from small to medium right away, no hassle, thank you so much.. Honestly small would have been plenty for two people!! But my boyfriend is basically whale-tier..
Made eye contact with the shrimp — I love raw shrimp sashimi too, but last time I nearly passed out prepping it several times so.. now I only eat it grilled haha, or have my boyfriend peel it.

Open every day, amazing. Save Yeongjae Susan, 1st floor sales building stall C-10 of Garak Mall, as your go-to sashimi spot in Garak Market!! Oh, and Songpa residents are so lucky — Yeongjae Susan even delivers through Coupang Eats, Baemin, and more?? (I recently paid 50,000 won for about 10 pieces somewhere else and was so mad I went all the way to Garak Market out of spite)

While sitting outside for a bit, guys selling chestnuts handed us one each haha. Thanks to them I got to enjoy some fall chestnuts after a long time, yum~
Right on time, our sashimi came out just as we got back!!!! Doesn't the packaging look so pretty..? (Once you've studied art, you notice things like this)
Unboxing the takeout: gizzard shad sashimi and thick engawa
Yeongjae Susan's takeout comes with an ice pack included without even asking, along with pickled radish, pickled ginger, fresh wasabi, vinegar-chili sauce, ssamjang, and soy sauce. There was a ton of engawa with the finely-cut gizzard shad sashimi.

I was so nervous/excited I unboxed it the second we walked in. They packed in an ice pack without us even asking!

I was so eager to eat that I was super hyped even taking this photo lol. They give you pickled radish, pickled ginger, fresh wasabi, vinegar-chili sauce, ssamjang, and soy sauce!

Wow, can you see that glossy color..? So sexy. True to a Garak Market gizzard shad spot... it had such a beautiful look. It was so heavy to unwrap lol, and so much engawa ㅠ Honestly I used to have trouble with gizzard shad because the bones from the fine cutting would catch on my gums, but this time it was just delicious the whole way through haha.
Sashimi with shrimp-broth ramyeon: the verdict on Yeongjae Susan
The medium jeongwangchamhoe from Yeongjae Susan was a huge portion for two, so we finished it off with shrimp stew ramyeon. For anyone who gets tired of eating just sashimi, I recommend pairing it with a seafood-based ramyeon.

Can you all resist drinking with sashimi like this..? I genuinely don't know how. I have no idea how that's possible. Making somaek with zero-alcohol beer means no somaek hangover but the taste is exactly the same! If anything it's cleaner — great life hack.

You all take a bite too~ (there were no utensils included so if you need them you'll have to ask!!) It was really thick-cut and melted in my mouth, I was so happy........ I think it was even better than what I had in Gangneung lol. Even during gizzard shad season, ordering just that alone can get a bit much, but having flounder and red seabream together with it made me so happy haha. You could totally take this to go for the trendy sashimi picnic thing these days — like at Jamsil Hangang Park.

When eating sashimi you need seafood-based ramyeon.. shrimp stew is the one haha. If you tend to get tired of just sashimi, try adding ramyeon too — it goes down so smoothly lol.

Ended the meal catching my boyfriend still taking two pieces at a time.. Recommending Yeongjae Susan as a top sashimi spot in Garak Market! There are so many options for where to go, but you shouldn't half-heartedly end up somewhere mediocre after coming all this way — get clean, tasty sashimi takeout from Yeongjae Susan!!
