Yeongnang Beach late-night bar in Sokcho: highballs at Seo Jubang

In short

Seo Jubang is a late-night bar and kitchen in the back alley of the pojangmacha street in Yeongnang-dong, Sokcho, serving until 3-4am. On the last night of a Sokcho trip, two people ordered the Sokcho Juanang Set (53,000 won) with tomato flounder mulhoe (cold raw fish soup) and Jim Beam highballs, and swapped the sold-out squid sukhoe for squid chomuchim (vinegared squid salad). With 80 seats across 60 pyeong, Seo Jubang works just as well for two people late at night as for a big group dinner.

A drinking set packed with the flavors of Sokcho — Seo Jubang. A vibey bar on Sokcho's pojangmacha (street food tent) street 🍻

Seo Jubang, a bar on Sokcho's pojangmacha street

Today I'm bringing you a pojangmacha-street find in Sokcho. On our last night before leaving, just watching TV and chatting in the room felt like a waste for the two of us. While looking for somewhere to go, I found a mulhoe (cold raw fish soup) spot in Sokcho that's open all the way until 3-4am, so we headed over. Let me introduce Seo Jubang, a bar in Sokcho with great vibes 🍳

Where is Seo Jubang, and where do you park?

Seo Jubang is a 1-minute walk from Sokcho's Yeongnang Beach, right next to Imone Sikdang. It's a drinking-and-dining spot tucked in the back alley of the Yeongnang-dong pojangmacha street.

It's open from 6pm until 3-4am, so it's a popular spot for a memorable date-night drink in Sokcho when you're looking for somewhere to keep the night going 🍻

Inside Seo Jubang: 80 seats that fit a group dinner

Walking inside, I was surprised by how spacious and clean it was 👀✨ At 60 pyeong with 80 seats, it looked like a great spot whether you're coming as a couple, with friends, or for a big group gathering or work dinner~!

Some people were there for a solo drink, and further inside the shop there was a bigger group gathering — I felt proud I'd found a good Sokcho spot, glad we came out at night ✌🏻

Crackers and barley tea(?) are set out as a basic side. Haven't seen a Del Monte glass bottle in a while ⸜( ◜࿁◝ )⸝

Seo Jubang's menu and what two people ordered

Seo Jubang has a wide menu, from the Sokcho Juanang Set that packs Sokcho seafood into one spread, to spicy stir-fried octopus, corn cheese kimchi pancake, crab fish-cake stew, spicy chicken feet, and homemade French toast — plenty to choose from depending on what you're craving!

Sokcho Juanang Set, 53,000 won: choosing tomato flounder mulhoe

Quickly after ordering, Seo Jubang's signature dish arrived — the Sokcho Juanang Set packed with a full Sokcho spread, plus the Jim Beam highball.

With the Sokcho Juanang Set you pick one main (spicy stir-fried octopus, spicy chicken feet, boiled pork, whole tofu duruchigi, tomato flounder mulhoe, or flounder hoe with konowata) — one of the six. Abai sundae (blood sausage), scallop jeotgal (salted seafood), squid sukhoe (blanched squid), and steamed scallops come as standard sides~

Standard side dishes included with the set
A bowl of tomato flounder mulhoe

I was torn between flounder hoe with konowata and the tomato flounder mulhoe, and ended up going with the mulhoe. At first I thought 'wait, tomato mulhoe???' but thinking about it, it seemed like it could actually work! It had it all — bright, fragrant, and refreshingly cold.

Squid sukhoe sold out: swapping in squid chomuchim

The squid sukhoe that normally comes as a basic side had run out, so they let us choose between squid chomuchim (vinegared squid salad) and another dish — I went with the chomuchim, and even the way the squid was cooked was next-level, the kind of flavor that makes the drinks go down easy 🥺🔥🔥

The Sokcho abai sundae was also the real deal!!!! A menu lineup that really shows why they say it captures Sokcho.

Salty, flavorful salted pollack roe potatoes

The salted pollack roe potatoes were also nicely salty and delicious 🤍 The portions were so big we couldn't order anything else — next time I'll be sure to bring digestive medicine(?) and try the French toast and crab fish-cake stew (*˙˘˙)♡

Notice about Seo Jubang's review event

Write a Naver receipt photo review and you'll get a free serving of squid sukhoe 🦑 — worth keeping in mind~

If you're visiting Sokcho and want to share one more drink with someone special, I recommend checking out Seo Jubang, a great spot for drinks and food 🩵
