Fireworks-night ocean-view café in Gwangalli: Working Holiday Minrak

Today I visited Working Holiday Minrak, where you get a full view of Gwangan Bridge. This place is great when you want to eat while also soaking up a view from high up, overlooking the sea. Alright, let's go on this one together!

Ordering and parking at Working Holiday Minrak

There's a kiosk at the entrance of Working Holiday Minrak, so you can order before heading in, or grab a seat first and come back out to order. Parking is available in the underground lot of the Badamaru building, which is a big plus if you're driving into busy Gwangalli.

This place also suits all kinds of anniversaries and celebrations well.

Once I opened the door and stepped in, I was surprised by how much bigger the space felt than I expected. But above all, the first thing you notice at Working Holiday Minrak is the view out the window. Being up on the 7th floor, the Gwangalli sea opens up wide and Gwangan Bridge comes fully into view, so my mood lifted the moment I sat down.

The window seats are great for eating while looking out at the sea, and the warm-toned furniture paired with comfortable seating throughout made it a place that didn't feel awkward to linger in.

There's also a terrace area, which looked like a nice spot to enjoy the outdoor atmosphere on a nice day.

More than a brunch café: the full menu

Working Holiday Minrak feels less like a simple coffee shop and more like a place for brunch and full meals together. With everything from Australian-style brunch to pasta, pizza, and coffee, it looked like a good spot for breakfast, lunch, or even a relaxed dinner.

They've also won quite a few barista awards.

They also sell beans roasted by their skilled barista. The owner and staff were all genuinely kind, and both the cooking and the coffee were the real deal.

The interior is really nice too — I had a lot of fun looking around at all the little decor pieces.

Fish and chips: crispy fish and fries

That day we ordered fish and chips and Bolognese pasta at Working Holiday Minrak. Our order came out fast, and it's a self-serve system once the food is ready.

First up, the fish and chips came with crispy fried fish and fries together, and it looked delicious just to look at. The outside had a lively crunch while the fish inside stayed soft, making it easy to enjoy without feeling heavy.

Paired with the fries, it felt more like a solid full meal than a simple brunch dish. Eating it in a seat overlooking the Gwangalli sea gave it a different feel than eating at home or at any other restaurant. Being able to enjoy the view spreading out the window along with the food felt like one of this place's biggest draws.

How was the Bolognese pasta?

And then the Bolognese pasta we also ordered. The rich tomato-based sauce had meaty depth to it, giving it a familiar but filling flavor.

The noodles and sauce came together naturally bite after bite, and alternating between this and the fish and chips turned out to be a pretty good combo.

If you like pasta, this was an easy dish to enjoy. I'd assumed this place was just for brunch, so being able to have a proper pasta meal too made it even more satisfying.

The free financier from the review event

And there was one small but pleasant surprise that day — I got a free financier for taking part in a review event. Adding a sweet dessert after the meal made the whole thing end on a happy note. It was genuinely delicious. I meant to buy some to bring home, but I completely forgot on my way out — ugh, I'm so sad about it.

Above all, the Gwangan Bridge ocean view is what stuck with me most about Working Holiday Minrak. When you look for restaurants or cafés with sea views in Gwangalli, you often run into places that look pretty during the day but fall short on food, or places with good food but a disappointing view — here, you get to enjoy the meal and the scenery at once. A beautiful sunset happened to line up with fireworks that evening, so I got to take in a really gorgeous scene.

Beyond pizza and brunch, they've got pasta and a range of drinks too, so there's plenty to choose from depending on your mood — and above all, the view of the Gwangalli sea and Gwangan Bridge from the 7th floor is something you'll remember along with the food for a long time. Sitting by the window on a nice day, eating slowly while looking out at the sea, and finishing off with coffee and a financier sounds like a great, relaxed way to spend time in Gwangalli.
