Monday dinner with mother-in-law, Bucheon Korean restaurant: Gim
In short
Gim Myeongju Tteuranchae Bapsang Bucheon Main Branch is a Korean set-meal (hanjeongsik) restaurant on Giljuro 560beon-gil in Jak-dong, near Gachiul in Bucheon. On a Monday evening the writer brought her mother-in-law and ordered borigulbi (dried salted yellow corvina) and ganjang gejang (soy-marinated crab), and a full table of banchan arrived quickly, with extras such as mul-kimchi available at the self-bar. Gim Myeongju suits a quiet dinner with parents, though families with a baby should add a meat dish like charcoal-grilled pork.

Gim Myeongju Tteuranchae Bapsang
Where is Gim Myeongju Tteuranchae Bapsang in Jak-dong, Bucheon?
On a Monday evening I took my mother-in-law to Gim Myeongju Tteuranchae Bapsang Bucheon Main Branch 🌿 I'd driven past this area before but had no idea a place like this existed.
The moment I got out of the car, the first thing I noticed was the fresh air. With so many trees around, it smelled almost like phytoncide, a real forest scent — for a second I felt like I'd come out to the countryside 🌳
It's technically Bucheon, but it barely feels like downtown, so it's great as a Bucheon drive-and-dine spot too — an atmospheric near-Seoul date restaurant. It'll also suit anyone searching for a Jak-dong restaurant or a Gachiul restaurant!

A clean exterior.

Plenty of parking space too.

Even on a Monday, there were already a lot of guests.

The tables are big, and there's plenty of space between them.
Inside Gim Myeongju: a spacious, calm dining room in Bucheon 🚗
Once inside, it was much bigger than I expected. The tables were spaced generously and the whole place felt comfortable, making it easy to dine with a group.
It would be especially good for dining with parents or for a Bucheon family gathering spot. You could also take a loop around the area before or after your meal for a bit of a Bucheon drive 🚗💚 The atmosphere is clearly different from downtown restaurants, so it's worth remembering as a Bucheon date spot too.

An enormous number of side dishes — and there were even more than this haha.
It really comes out fast 👍

Looks so appetizing.

The soy crab was clean-tasting and delicious too.

The borigulbi was delicious as well.

Cheonggukjang (fermented soybean stew) too 👍

Borigulbi and soy crab: what comes with the set meal 🍚
We ordered the borigulbi and the ganjang gejang. What I liked best was how fast the food came out! Not long after ordering, the table was fully set, and the number of side dishes was really impressive 😳
Great for visiting with parents who love Korean set meals — I get why so many people come here for Bucheon family gatherings! Tasting each banchan, the seasoning overall is on the bold side, which should suit anyone who loves rich, strong Korean flavors 👍🏻

Baby tableware and a high chair are available.

Can't skip the stone-pot rice 👍

Definitely pour water in it after!
They even gave us green tea to have with the borigulbi. Nice touch 🤍
Refilling banchan at the self-bar, including mul-kimchi 🥬
There are already plenty of banchan by default, but you can grab more of whatever's running low at the self-bar. When I checked it out there were other side dishes too, and mul-kimchi (water kimchi), which I brought over for my mother-in-law 😊
She really enjoyed her meal, and I was glad I'd brought her. The staff were generally kind, and I liked how fast the food came out. Dining is comfortable even with a group, so this should especially suit anyone looking for a Bucheon restaurant for family gatherings or a place to bring parents.

Visiting with a baby? Add a charcoal-grilled pork dish 👶🏻
If you're visiting with a baby like we did, I'd recommend ordering a meat dish alongside. Since we ordered borigulbi and soy crab, there was almost nothing our baby could eat 😂
Next time, I'll definitely add something the baby can eat too, like charcoal-grilled pork.
Is Gim Myeongju worth it for dinner with parents?
It had the feel of a near-Seoul date restaurant while also being a great spot for a family Korean meal. Pair it with a café afterward for a Bucheon date course, or just take a light drive out to Bucheon for the meal itself 🌿
If you want a near-Seoul feeling without traveling far from downtown, check this out as a near-Seoul date restaurant. Bring parents for a Bucheon family gathering, or come as a couple for a Bucheon date course 🤎
