The weather's still warm these days, but evenings are getting cooler, haha. I got a craving for warm jokbal (pork trotter) and went to check out a new fried jokbal restaurant near Bucheon Station!
One-line verdict — the fried jokbal is seriously chewy and honey-sweet

Outside Kkalkkali Jokbal: balloon sign and Korean-grown trotters

Oh, I was walking down the street and... they were advertising with this huge signboard balloon! It was still early evening but there were quite a few people already, haha.

Domestic pork trotter, no less! There's a lot of imported stuff these days, haha, so I got my hopes up.
Inside the restaurant and the outdoor yajang tables

There were so many customers I only managed to photograph the row I was sitting at! It was really clean and comfortable inside, and the seats were spacious too.

And there's this yajang (outdoor tent-style) seating area right next to the main shop — with the nice weather these days, eating out there would've been great too, haha.
Menu and prices: medium fried jokbal and sailfish roe rice ball

Turns out you can order via table order! Haha. After some deliberating over what to eat, we went with the medium fried jokbal + sailfish roe rice ball!

You're wondering why we didn't order the jaengban guksu (noodle platter)? They give it to you free as part of the opening event... whoa.
How the fried jokbal tastes: crispy skin, tender meat

The side dishes were dried radish, pickled onion, onion-chive salad, and lettuce wraps! Haha.

On top of that, the bean sprout soup was really refreshing too.

There was no way we weren't ordering soju and beer. Shots, shots!

And the star of the show, jokbal... whoa, the outside looks super crispy but the inside looks super tender, right? Can these two things really coexist?

The sailfish roe rice ball was covered in seaweed, but there was actually a lot of sailfish roe underneath!

Oh... look how tender the jokbal is. When you bite into it, the skin part is slightly crispy and chewy, and the meat inside is super tender with a savory flavor.
Haha, it looked so delicious I even took a video — what do you think?

Adding a piece of dried radish on top for a bite too. The dried radish was thick and crunchy, and it went so well with the fried jokbal.

And then there's the complimentary makguksu (buckwheat noodles). Whoa, this barely counts as a 'freebie' anymore.

Mix it up!

I rolled up a rice ball nice and neatly and placed it on top too, haha. The jokbal visuals are insane... this is truly a must-eat jokbal spot near Bucheon Station.

Adding the makguksu on top cuts through the richness and makes it even tastier, and the noodle sauce was sweet and tangy and fresh — such a satisfying combination, haha.

Haha, for the last bite I went all out — piled on dried radish, pickled onion, makguksu, and even ssamjang (dipping sauce) before taking a bite. The soju just kept flowing. On my way out I noticed the yajang.
Is fried jokbal too greasy? The verdict on Kkalkkali Jokbal
I've been to countless restaurants near Bucheon Station, but I can confidently say this jokbal place is the clear top pick when it comes to nailing that crispy-outside, tender-inside texture. Some of you might find the whole 'fried jokbal' concept a bit unfamiliar or worry it'll be greasy. But the moist, tender texture stayed alive underneath the crispy fried coating, so I could eat it to the very last piece without getting tired of it!
The combination with the fried jokbal was truly excellent. Put a tender piece of jokbal on top of the savory sailfish roe rice ball, then add the tangy makguksu and wrap it all up — it's a heavenly flavor that makes the drinks go down naturally.
Who Kkalkkali Jokbal Bucheon Branch is best for
The interior was very spacious and well-kept, clean and comfortable, and what really stood out was the outdoor yajang seating — perfect for these days when a cool breeze blows in the evening, letting you enjoy your meal in that particular atmospheric vibe. That was genuinely appealing.
If you're using public transit, it's only a 5-minute walk from Exit 5 of Bucheon Station, so accessibility is excellent — it's perfect for a casual drink after work or as a meetup spot with friends!! If you want to experience the unique, addictive charm of fried jokbal, I highly recommend paying a visit!
