Magongnaru eel rice bowl with unlimited broth refills: Una Magok
In short
Una Magok is a Nagoya-style hitsumabushi (grilled eel rice bowl) restaurant on the 1st floor of K-Square Magok Tower 2, by Exit 5 of Magongnaru Station in Gangseo, Seoul. Worn out after a Seoul Botanic Park outing, two of us ordered the hitsumabushi (1 eel) at 42,000 won and the tori mabushi at 29,000 won, took a second round of broth from the free refills of rice, toppings, broth and side dishes, and finished every bowl. The eel at Una Magok was crisp outside and tender inside with no fishy smell, and the tori mabushi's chicken broth made the closing ochazuke even deeper.

Last weekend, two old folks (haha) went to Seoul Botanic Park near Magok Station and completely ran out of energy 😇😇 We figured we needed something delicious to recover, so we went to "Una Magok," a traditional hitsumabushi specialist, and had a delicious eel rice bowl and grilled chicken rice bowl.. ✨ Here's our review after thoroughly restoring our strength 👏👏
Where Una Magok is, opening hours and parking

"Una Magok" is located 282m from Exit 5 of Magongnaru Station ✔️ It's also just 2 minutes from Magok Station on Line 5, and it's inside the K-Square Magok building — since that complex has multiple towers, note that it's specifically on the 1st floor of "Tower 2" ❗️ Free parking is available in the same building for 1.5 hours 💖
Inside Una Magok: 3 private rooms and high chairs for kids

This is the inside of "Una Magok" 🤎 The overall clean, monotone interior caught my eye, and there are 3 rooms in the back that looked great for gatherings ✨ There was also plenty of seating — group tables, private seats, 4-person tables and more ❗️ Plus there were high chairs! Some eel rice bowl places have a strong fishy smell if you're unlucky, but "Una Magok" actually had a nice scent..? It felt like the interior was being managed very cleanly and carefully 🤎✨
The Una Magok menu and how to order by tablet

This is Una Magok's menu ✔️ The Nagoya-style traditional eel dish "hitsumabushi" (eel rice bowl) is the main and signature menu item! Besides eel, there's also tori mabushi (grilled chicken) and mero mabushi (grilled Chilean sea bass) rice bowls with different main ingredients, so I liked having a wide range of choices 💖 There's even a kids' lunch box for children..? Seems like a perfect place to stop by after visiting the botanic garden with kids 🤎🖤

Order using the tablet on the table ❗️ We ordered as follows 💖
- Hitsumabushi (1 eel) - ₩42,000
- Tori mabushi - ₩29,000

Also check out the various events in the store 💝 Apparently if you write a review you get free ginseng wine! I wanted it, but I had driven so I passed 😭😭

While the food is being prepared, I should read up on how to enjoy it properly.. 😇

Hitsumabushi vs tori mabushi: what is the difference?
A neatly arranged table setting arrived.. 🤎🖤

The hitsumabushi and tori mabushi have the same side dishes, but the main ingredient and broth are different ❗️

✔️ Hitsumabushi (1 eel) - ₩42,000. One whole eel and egg strips are neatly placed on top of the rice, with mashed potato, braised konjac, pickled cucumber, and mushroom salad in the side dish compartments 💚 Ochazuke ingredients and broth also come with it ✨

✔️ Tori mabushi - ₩29,000. This one's full of charcoal-grilled aroma 💝 It comes with egg strips and crunchy onions too! The broth for the tori mabushi is chicken broth, so it has a deeper flavor.. 🤎🖤

Overall, it looked something like this.. ✨

Look at that eel's color.. 🤎 So glossy, and there's a special tail piece placed on top by itself..? hahaha It was grilled crispy outside and tender inside, with no fishy smell and almost no bones felt, so I ate it very happily 👏👏

The charcoal aroma and sweet tare sauce went so well with the tori mabushi.. 🧡🤎 The chicken was moist and completely tender!

After reading the enjoyment guide carefully, I piled rice and various toppings and dug in..

Finishing with ochazuke, and free broth refills at Una Magok
The final highlight, ochazuke.. 💛🤍 Honestly this is what I came for..! Pouring the broth over it and slurping it down feels like a fresh restart, making it even more delicious to eat.. haha + Rice, toppings, broth, side dishes and more can all be refilled unlimited via the tablet, so if you're short, order more ❗️
We refilled the broth one more time each and cleaned our plates completely 😇😇

Even ended with green tea ice cream for dessert.. 💚 A perfect recovery meal 👏👏
Why Una Magok pairs well with a Seoul Botanic Park day out
There's also One Grove Mall nearby, and lots to see like Seoul Botanic Park and LG Arts Center, so if you visit Magok and are looking for a good restaurant, definitely check out "Una Magok" 🥰🥰 Both menus are delicious, so I recommend the hitsumabushi + tori mabushi combo.. ✨
