I was on the hunt for a sashimi spot in Jeonpo and this time headed to Rigo Susan Jeonpo Station Main Branch. Eating there, I found this isn't the kind of sashimi restaurant that just plops down a plate of raw fish — the appeal is the loaded platter packed with all sorts of food from the very start.

This time I ordered the salmon-shrimp platter, and thanks to a Catch Table review event, I even got to try a spicy fish stew (maeuntang) alongside it.

Where is Rigo Susan in Jeonpo?

Rigo Susan Jeonpo Station Main Branch sits at 13 Jeonpo-daero 216beon-gil, Busanjin-gu, Busan. It's in a convenient spot for gatherings or drinks in Jeonpo, and the restaurant had more seating than I expected, making it fine for larger groups too. Each table has its own ordering tablet, so adding extra menu items was easy.

I ordered the salmon-shrimp platter, and even before the main sashimi arrived, the variety of standard dishes served was genuinely impressive.

Spread with California roll and okonomiyaki

Tteokbokki (stir-fried rice cakes), fried squid, fried sweet potato, steamed shrimp, corn cheese, spicy squid salad, cold udon, California roll, and even okonomiyaki! On top of that, seaweed, perilla leaves, ssamjang (seasoned soybean paste), white kimchi, and tempura sauce all come out to eat alongside the sashimi.

Just looking at the spread, I thought I'd be full before the sashimi even showed up. It's great for a group to share bit by bit, so it seems like a solid pick for anyone looking for a group sashimi restaurant in Jeonpo.

What comes on the salmon and shrimp platter

Then the main event, the salmon-shrimp platter, arrived. It came with plenty of salmon and raw shrimp, satisfying just from the look of it.

The salmon had a moist sheen and chewed soft in the mouth, with a good nutty flavor coming through. I generally like salmon, so I was satisfied with the basics, but my personal favorite that day was something else.

Plate of Rigo Susan's raw shrimp sashimi

It was the raw shrimp sashimi! Make sure to order it. The shrimp had firm, springy flesh, and as you chewed it, a subtle sweetness came through — it was genuinely delicious.

A piece of raw shrimp sashimi topped with wasabi

Honestly, it was memorable enough to stand out among everything I ate that day. It was tasty with a little wasabi on top, and eaten plain, the shrimp's distinct sweet, fresh flavor came through even more. If you like shrimp, I really recommend ordering this at Rigo Susan.

Shrimp heads and tails collected in a bowl

After eating, don't just leave them — put on the plastic gloves, separate the heads and tails, and collect them in a bowl, and the staff will fry them up for you. You really have to try this, haha.

Shrimp heads fried crispy

Fried up crispy, the shrimp aroma and nutty flavor really come alive, giving a completely different experience from the sashimi.

Fried shrimp heads dipped in mayo sauce

Mayo sauce comes out to eat with the standard fried squid, but I personally found it went great with the fried shrimp heads too. Eating the raw shrimp sashimi and then frying up the heads — nothing goes to waste!

The nine standard sides at Rigo Susan

Wide variety of Rigo Susan's standard sides

Rigo Susan's wide range of standard sides was definitely a strong point. From the chewy spicy squid salad to warm corn cheese, tteokbokki, and fried items, every flavor was different, so it was great to alternate between them between bites of sashimi.

A bowl of refreshing cold udon

Cold, refreshing dishes like the cold udon were good for cleansing the palate too. There was always something to eat, so waiting for the main course was never boring at all.

Free spicy fish stew for a Catch Table review

At the time of my visit, there was also a reservation and review event running. Leave a Catch Table review and you get a spicy fish stew (maeuntang); leave a Naver reservation review and you get a sample mulhoe (cold raw fish soup). We used Catch Table and got the stew for free.

Honestly, I expected something light since it was free, but when it arrived, I was surprised at how much fish flesh was packed onto the bones. It was fun picking the meat off the bones piece by piece, and with the spicy broth on top, it was the perfect way to finish off the sashimi.

Sancho pepper served on request

When ordering the stew, the staff asked first whether we wanted sancho pepper added. Since someone in our group couldn't eat sancho, we asked for it on the side. It's nice that you can adjust it to your taste this way — if you like sancho, add it in, and if you can't eat it, just have the basic broth as is. This kind of detail matters more than you'd think when visiting in a group, and I appreciated that they asked so carefully.

Is Rigo Susan worth it for a group dinner in Jeonpo?

Eating there myself, Rigo Susan felt less like a place where you just eat sashimi and leave, and more like somewhere you enjoy a generous spread of sides and sashimi all together. There was so much to eat even before the main course that you start out already full, and the salmon and raw shrimp were fresh and satisfying. The sweet flavor of the raw shrimp in particular, and the way you can fry up the leftover heads afterward, are things I'd personally recommend without hesitation.

On top of that, you can also score a free spicy fish stew or sample mulhoe through the review event, so it's worth checking whether it's still running before you book. If you're looking for good food in Jeonpo or a Jeonpo sashimi restaurant where you can enjoy a generous variety of dishes, I'd recommend Rigo Susan Jeonpo Station Main Branch. :)
