My family loves eel rice bowls, so we visited Yuok, famous for its eel rice bowls in Songjeong, Busan. It was great that everything came out as a neat set meal, and the eel was so tender and chewy that we ended up enjoying it in all sorts of different ways.

How far is Yuok from Songjeong Beach and the Dongbusan outlet?

Yuok is located near Songjeong Beach in Busan, famous as a drive course, and it's also close to Dongbu Busan Lotte Outlet, so it's very accessible. From the entrance, Yuok gives off strong Japanese vibes! You can spot it from far away, so it's really easy to find.

Inside Yuok: seating and the 2nd-floor waiting area

Inside Yuok, a Songjeong eel rice bowl favorite, there's a long bar-style counter table running through the middle, with regular tables on one side. Since I came with my parents, we sat comfortably at a regular table.

The 2nd floor is a waiting area with a vending machine and seats to rest while you wait, so it's comfortable even during a wait. During busy hours, you'll need to register at CatchTable at the entrance and wait.

Yuok menu and what we ordered

The signature dishes are the eel rice bowl and salmon rice bowl, and beyond those there's a charcoal-grilled mackerel rice bowl and tori-don topped with chicken thigh meat. There are also single dishes like maze udon, tempura udon, and a kids' lunch box, so it would be great to come with children too.

Jumbo unaju set: how was the grilled eel?

The delicious jumbo unaju set arrived. The eel was huge and its color was just art... I was amazed by the visuals the moment it came out. Fried tofu, scallion, and nori (seaweed) came with it, so we tried eating it several different ways. After the meal, we finished with the plum tea that came alongside.

Yuok, the Songjeong eel rice bowl favorite, came out as a neat set meal, so it felt even more comfortable to eat and gave off a feeling of being well taken care of. It wasn't too sweet, so we enjoyed it without getting tired of it. There was egg laid underneath the eel, and it was delicious mixed together on top. Piling on plenty of wasabi made it even tastier :)

What comes with the salmon rice bowl set

I was curious about the salmon rice bowl set too, so I tried it. You squeeze the lemon juice on top of the salmon and mix it in. I added wasabi to taste as well. The salmon was fresh and had no fishy smell, making the whole thing taste clean.

The salmon rice bowl set comes with karaage (fried chicken), fried shrimp, salad, and a biscuit topped with cream cheese and tomato. The fried tofu, scallion, and plum tea come out the same as with the jumbo unaju set, but instead of nori, it comes with a soy sauce for the fried items. The fried shrimp was so crispy that dipping it in the soy sauce was delicious.
