Hi everyone! This is Matjjang's Jeongseok. Today I visited a sashimi restaurant near Yeonsu Station in Incheon called Veteran General Fish Market. It's known for fresh, varied sashimi and delicious side dishes, and I heard they have a super budget-friendly lunch special for ₩13,900 — even available on weekends — so I rushed over to check it out and share it with you.

Where is Veteran General Fish Market near Yeonsu Station, and how big is it?
The interior is really spacious. It's on the 3rd floor of Yeonsu Plaza, so you park in the basement and head up to the 3rd floor. It seats up to 100 people, so it seems like a great spot for group gatherings, company dinners, or events.

At Veteran General Fish Market, a chef with 30 years of experience prepares the sashimi with skilled hands, following a policy of using up ingredients fresh daily and cooking only with domestic live fish and seafood.

What's on the self-serve bar? Grill your own kimchi pancake
The salad bar has a variety of vegetables, salads, and side dishes, plus unlimited ramen noodles you can add to your spicy fish stew. And there's dessert coffee and ice cream too! Kimchi pancake is set up for you to cook yourself.
I started right away by frying up a kimchi pancake. Nice and golden brown — looks pretty appetizing, right? Haha.

Ordering the ₩13,900 lunch special for three
You order via kiosk, and we ordered three portions of the lunch special. The lunch special comes with sashimi, sushi, tempura, spicy fish stew, albap, and side dishes.

If you take part in the review event, you can choose 2 dried persimmons, 2 abalones, or 4 fried bread shrimp — I'd recommend joining in and getting the freebie.
The self-serve bar has salad and corn mayo ready — make sure you grab some, they're really tasty!

Sushi, seaweed soup and tempura that aren't just filler
First out was a refreshing seaweed soup and sushi. It looked super fresh at a glance. I tried the salmon sushi first, and it tasted just as good as a dedicated sushi restaurant. Not filler at all — genuinely delicious sushi.
The seaweed soup didn't have any fancy ingredients, but the clean, refreshing flavor was excellent.
The self-cooked, golden kimchi pancake had great-tasting batter too — crispy outside, soft inside, really good.
They also serve salted pollock roe mixed with sesame oil to eat with the sashimi. Add it when you wrap the sashimi and you get this great popping texture.
The flying fish roe sashimi salad had crunchy cabbage, carrot, and flounder sashimi in it — mixed with chojang (vinegar-chili sauce), it's really delicious.
The homemade tempura is fried Japanese-style right when ordered, so it's crispy and excellent. Shrimp, sweet pumpkin, and sweet potato — all of them were delicious.

And then the spicy fish stew! Boiled piping hot, add some ramen noodles, and it's the perfect finish. All of this for ₩13,900 per person is truly insane value.

Last but not least, albap with popping flying fish roe!

With sashimi placed in the center, it makes for a perfectly complete spread.
Can you see how gorgeous that salmon sushi looks? It's honestly better than most dedicated sushi restaurants. The salmon just melts softly in your mouth.

Adding the ₩25,000 autumn gizzard shad sashimi (small)
Finally, the sashimi arrived — flounder, mullet, and gizzard shad.

The sashimi glistened with a glossy sheen — you could tell just by looking that it was going to be delicious.

There's a saying that autumn gizzard shad is so good it can make a runaway daughter-in-law come home, haha. That's how nutty and delicious this thin-boned fish, eaten bones and all, is in autumn. I figured I had to eat autumn gizzard shad before winter arrived, so I ordered the small gizzard shad sashimi for ₩25,000.

The portion was surprisingly generous, so I got to eat my fill of gizzard shad sashimi.
I started with the flounder sashimi — wrapped with the salted pollock roe they served, the salty roe and the nutty, slightly sweet flounder came together perfectly.
The mullet sashimi was also really nutty and delicious.

No need to say much about the gizzard shad sashimi — it just melts away in your mouth.
Both the sashimi and the sashimi salad practically call for soju. Nutty, chewy — you could really tell it was made by an expert with 30 years of experience, the kind of skill only a true professional's hands can produce.

Spicy fish stew with ramen noodles, albap and dessert
The spicy fish stew was packed with fish, making the broth even richer. Time to drop in the ramen noodles!
Can you see the flying fish roe dotted through the albap? Really nutty and delicious.
You absolutely have to eat the spicy fish stew with the ramen noodles added — it's so good. Top it with a piece of kimchi and eat it with the noodles for the perfect finish.
And finally, dessert ice cream to top it all off! A truly complete course.
Is Veteran General Fish Market worth it for sashimi in Yeonsu-dong?
Today I visited Veteran General Fish Market Incheon Yeonsu Branch near Yeonsu Station, and enjoyed a course packed with fresh sashimi, sushi, tempura, spicy fish stew, and albap, all at a great price. The sashimi itself was so fresh and delicious, and everything else was great too — with prices these days, it almost felt like I shouldn't be allowed to enjoy this course for this price. On top of that, the seasonal gizzard shad sashimi was excellent, so I'd definitely recommend trying it. If you're looking for a good sashimi restaurant in Yeonsu-dong, I highly recommend 'Veteran Fish Market.'
