When the autumn breeze starts blowing, there's one delicacy you absolutely have to eat — plump, in-season raw shrimp! The moment I heard it was shrimp season, my husband and I headed to a place famous in Incheon for its huge scale and freshness,
Veteran General Fish Market Incheon Yeonsu Branch
I get it now — I understand exactly why it's considered one of the best seafood restaurants in Yeonsu-gu. Atmosphere, taste, parking — all great. Here's my full review!
How big is Veteran General Fish Market in Yeonsu-dong?
Veteran General Fish Market Incheon Yeonsu Branch is on the 3rd floor of Yeonsu Gwangjang Plaza, with a well-equipped underground parking lot in the building, so you can ride the elevator straight up to the 3rd floor without worrying about parking.

The first thing that surprised me as soon as I stepped off the elevator was the sheer size of the place! It's by far the largest hall among the seafood restaurants I've visited in Yeonsu-dong.

The interior was also stylish and upscale, making it a perfect spot to bring your parents, hold a family gathering, or have a work dinner. The space was neatly divided into sections, so it felt spacious yet comfortable.

What is on the self-serve bar: kimchi pancakes and drip coffee
What especially caught my eye was the neatly maintained self-serve bar!

It was stocked with all kinds of fresh vegetables and various sauces to go with the sashimi, but best of all, there was a separate self-serve kimchi pancake zone where you could grill your own piping hot pancakes — so much fun.

There was even a coffee machine to enjoy after the meal, making it a truly full-course experience.

What one couple ordered at Veteran General Fish Market, and the prices
Ordering is easy — just use the tablet PC installed at each table.

We ordered the seasonal raw shrimp, my favorite sashimi flounder, and a hearty rice dish to round things out.
- Grilled raw shrimp with salt (small): ₩30,000
- Flounder sashimi (1 person): ₩23,000
- Hoedeopbap (raw fish rice bowl): ₩10,000
The side dishes that come free with every order
Once we ordered, a neat basic spread arrived: a savory sashimi salad loaded with fish, quail eggs, baek-kimchi (white kimchi), and the standout seasoned pollack roe. There was also a refreshing seaweed soup — a great lineup.

While we were enjoying the basic side dishes, a freshly grilled, golden-brown kimchi pancake from the self-serve bar joined the table, and suddenly the whole table was overflowing with food!

Is the Incheon salt-grilled raw shrimp really that fresh?
The grilled raw shrimp (small) at Veteran General Fish Market Incheon Yeonsu Branch is 30,000 won. Finally, the star of the show arrived — the grilled raw shrimp, still covered with a pot lid!

Seeing the shrimp literally jumping on the hot salt plate with my own eyes really drove home how fresh it was. A few minutes later, steam rose and the shrimp turned a deliciously red color as they cooked — the sight of it... ❤️

Fresh off the grill, the shrimp were plump and full, with a subtle sweetness and a wonderfully springy texture.

If you're looking for Incheon-style grilled shrimp this autumn, this will absolutely satisfy you!

Carefully peeling off the shell and dipping the shrimp in vinegar-chili sauce gave it a sweet, delicious finish. They even gave us gloves, which made it easy to eat.
Rockfish sashimi for one at 23,000 won and hoedeopbap at 10,000 won
Flounder sashimi is 23,000 won per person, and hoedeopbap is 10,000 won. The flounder sashimi that came next was clearly fresh, just from its translucent color.

One bite and the texture was so chewy and springy! I dipped it in wasabi soy sauce, then wrapped it in a big lettuce leaf with pungent garlic and chili and ssamjang (seasoned soybean paste) — it instantly put me in a good mood.

The hoedeopbap that rounded out the meal was fantastic too!

Loaded generously with fresh sashimi and crunchy vegetables, a drizzle of vinegar-chili sauce and a bowl of rice mixed together made for a sweet, tangy, savory finish that wrapped up the meal perfectly.
