Danyang ssambap restaurant for 9: all three menus, Heukmaneul Ssambap

I went on a family trip recently, and the destination was Danyang, Chungbuk — a whopping three-generation family trip!!! While looking for something delicious to eat with the family, I found out Danyang is famous for black garlic. So along with checking out Danyang Gugyeong Market (경시장), we visited a nearby restaurant, Danyang Heukmaneul Ssambap :-)

Where is Danyang Heukmaneul Ssambap, and where do you park?

Danyang Heukmaneul Ssambap is located right in front of Danyang Gugyeong Market. There's no separate parking, so use the nearby roadside or the market's free parking lot.

During meal times the parking lot is nearly full, but there were more spots than I expected.

The moment we stepped inside, all the signs on the wall caught my eye — this place has even appeared on TV, a really famous restaurant!!

And just 1 minute away there's a second branch called Danyang Heukmaneul Boribap! We visited the next day, so I'll post that review later.

Wifi plus baby chairs! There's also a restroom inside the restaurant. With plenty of baby chairs, it's a great spot to bring kids.

The interior wasn't huge! There were 9 tables set for 4 people each. The owner(?) and staff were kind. Since there were 9 of us, we split across two tables >,<

Danyang Heukmaneul Ssambap's menu comes down to three main dishes!!

• Black garlic squid ssambap
• Black garlic pork ssambap
• Black garlic boiled pork ssambap

One dish per person is required for elementary school age and up! Orders are placed at the kiosk.

Side dishes and the gang-doenjang (thick soybean paste stew)

Once you order, a bunch of wraps and side dishes come out. So clean and tidy, I loved it. I was surprised they served gang-doenjang (thick seasoned soybean paste) too !-!

9 people, every menu ordered: 106,000 won total

• Black garlic boiled pork ssambap ₩19,000 / 2 servings
• Total: ₩106,000

Wait a sec‼️‼️ Since our group was split across 2 tables, they served each dish divided into single portions per person (except the pork). If you actually order 2 servings, the portion will be much bigger!!!

Black garlic spicy pork ssambap

What's on top is the black garlic! Kids and adults alike ate it happily, and it wasn't spicy, which was great.

Black garlic boiled pork ssambap

Boiled pork pairs perfectly with pickled radish! The black garlic was way tastier than I expected. You'd think eating a lot of garlic would leave garlic breath, but not at all. The boiled pork was also super tender 👍🏻

Black garlic squid ssambap

My goodness, giving this much squid — how could anyone have leftovers. The squid was tender and generously sized, making it even tastier.

And of course, the doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) too! The doenjang was so tasty. From the parents to the nephews, everyone ate every last bite.
