Pangyo tonkatsu lunch, rotsu katsu set with soba: Katsu Shokudo

A tonkatsu place I visited while looking for lunch in Pangyo! Pangyo has so many office workers that everywhere gets crowded on weekday lunchtimes, but I hadn't had tonkatsu in a while so I gave this one a shot. I post tonkatsu content pretty often, don't I? Yes, I'm confirmed a tonkatsu maniac.

Where is Katsu Shokudo Pangyo Main Branch, and is there parking?

It's on basement level 1 of Alphadom Tower in Pangyo. They also support 3 hours of parking. The location and parking are really great...!! A little tip of my own: eating tonkatsu here and then strolling over to Hyundai Department Store afterward is a course I'd recommend haha.

Is Katsu Shokudo Pangyo good for an office lunch or eating alone?

Walking in, the overall vibe was clean, so it looked like a good spot for office workers having lunch too!!!

If you have a lunch appointment in Pangyo or are looking for an office lunch menu — especially if you like tonkatsu — this seems like a place worth coming to.

It's a menu that isn't intimidating to eat alone either, so it looks really good for a Pangyo office worker's lunch. There are dotchi seats set up for solo customers like me!!

Choosing the rotsu katsu set with soba off the menu

The menu is really varied! There's even a curry menu. A tonkatsu + curry combo, need I say more — so it was hard to decide 🥺

After a lot of back and forth, I ordered the rotsu katsu set (soba) that day!!! I was going to just get tonkatsu, but I wanted soba too, so I went with the set — and in the end, this combo turned out great 🤍

Pink salt and a hair tie on the table at Katsu Shokudo

In a corner of the table there's pink salt and, what would I call it, furikake...? Anyway, that red seasoning is there. It's tasty!! The pink salt comes in a grind-it-yourself form — I think grinding it myself is fun and somehow makes it taste even better hehe.

There's even a hair tie for the girls... Top marks for thoughtfulness!!!

What comes with the rotsu katsu set, and how it tastes

Not long after ordering, the food came out, and even at a glance it looked like a pretty hearty spread. With tonkatsu and soba both showing up, it felt like more than enough for one meal!

Especially at lunch, I tend to prefer a set menu with rice or noodles alongside the main dish rather than something too heavy, so this really suited me ...♡

The soba in the set

Soba! Eating tonkatsu on its own for too long can get a bit greasy, but having soba in between kept my palate clean, which I liked. I'm not usually a huge soba fan, but the soba here... I finished it completely. The noodles were incredibly!! chewy and tasty. I really can't stand mushy, clumped-together noodles, but these were so springy I slurped them right up.

Rice refills and side dishes at Katsu Shokudo Pangyo

They give you a generous amount of rice too. And it's even refillable.... truly love that. I'm a tonkatsu + rice person, so for me!!!! this place is amazing.

Pickled radish and pickled chili peppers — the pickled chili is so good. It really cuts through the tonkatsu, which can otherwise get greasy.

Rotsu katsu: crispy outside, juicy inside

The rotsu katsu I had was crispy on the outside and juicy inside!! Tonkatsu can get a bit tiresome if the breading is too thick, but that day, eating it alternately with the soba, I never got that feeling and could enjoy it deliciously all the way through. Thinking back on it again, genuinely delicious...

It's tasty dipped in the sauce too, but my most recommended combination is wasabi + pink salt. I think this combo is the tastiest way to eat tonkatsu!!!

Verdict on lunch at Katsu Shokudo Pangyo Main Branch

I had the rotsu katsu set (soba) that day, and what I liked most was being able to eat tonkatsu and soba together in one meal!! Oh, and instead of soba you can also choose udon. Once it gets colder I plan to come back and try it with udon. When you're torn over lunch in Pangyo — 'should I eat tonkatsu today, or soba?' — eating both is one option!!! This felt like a place I'd think of when I want a clean, satisfying meal. If you're looking for a good Pangyo lunch spot, this is worth checking out.
