Gwangju hair salon magic setting with natural C-curls: Eomaek

I heard there was a hair salon in Cheomdan, Gwangju that does great magic straightening, so I finally went to the salon for a little change of pace! It is open daily from 10:00 to 20:00.

There is also a parking tower in the building, so there seemed to be plenty of space. I conveniently parked in the first-floor lot and went upstairs.

Since I had booked ahead, I arrived right on time, changed into a gown in the changing room, and came out.

A comfortable waiting area that feels like a café

Eomaek Hair Project Cheomdan Branch, a hair salon in Cheomdan, has such a luxurious interior—it honestly feels like stepping into a pretty café.

The interior is so cozy and atmospheric that I almost wondered whether it was an independent café, but this is actually a hair salon!

They even had a café-like drink menu. There were lots of options, including Americano, café latte, instant coffee, green tea, juice, and tea of the day. I asked for a refreshing iced Americano.

Usually, waiting a long time at a salon can get boring or tiring, right? But this place was set up so nicely that even if a friend came along to wait, it would not feel awkward at all. The atmosphere was so comfortable that I enjoyed my whole time there.

My frizzy hair before the treatment and the consultation

First, here is the condition of my hair before the treatment. It had been about a year since I had straightened it, and because I normally kept it tied up, it was frizzy and messy all over.

I had my hair consultation with Assistant Director Sebin. She examined my hair carefully and asked all kinds of hair-related questions: how I usually styled it, how long it had been since my last treatment, what fringe length I wanted, and more.

Assistant Director Sebin is such a professional, so I just left everything to her. Please take care of it for me.. haha. Since I usually wear my hair tied up and rarely let it down, she recommended a style that suited my habits.

The magic straightening and C-curl setting process

Getting your hair done usually takes a long time, right? There were so many steps: applying the softening solution, shampooing, wrapping rods for the curls and magic setting, pressing at the roots, applying neutralizer, and the final wash! But two quick-handed designers worked together, so everything moved along smoothly without a dull moment.

The shampoo room was thoughtful too. They covered my eyes with a disposable eye mask so I could lie back comfortably, and even gave me a refreshing cervical massage. It felt like all my fatigue just melted away.

Assistant Director Sebin worked quickly, but she was also incredibly meticulous. Without any uncomfortable or hot spots, she smoothly straightened my frizzy curls with a flat iron from the roots to where the curls would begin. I especially loved how she used a lift during the root pressing so the top would retain natural volume.

Next, she wrapped rods around the ends for C-curls and connected them to the setting machine to apply heat. From that point, I was so excited to see what style would come out! After neutralizing and washing my hair, it would be finished.

A natural magic setting finished in about 2 hours 30 minutes

And here is the finished magic setting! The total treatment took about 2 hours and 30 minutes. Since my hair is medium length, I thought it would take much longer, but it ended sooner than expected! It came out beautifully in a calm, polished style.

Comparing the before and after, the “natural look” I wanted most came through perfectly, so I absolutely loved it. It is the most satisfied I have ever been with my hair, and I kept telling Assistant Director Sebin how much I liked it.

Normally, I only get volume straightening or pin-straight magic straightening. But after trying this magic setting, with the top smoothed down by straightening and C-curls at the bottom, I understood why everyone gets it. It was my first magic setting, and I was so happy with it that I plan to visit again next time.
