Paju Heyri rooftop restaurant with a hidden library: Mokushura Table

To celebrate my husband's vacation, I visited Mokushura Table, an unusual and charming dining café in the Heyri Art Village in Paju. Just like everyone said, it's a place where nothing is missing — from the exterior and interior design to the delicious food and thoughtful service — so I really wanted to share it.

Parking in Heyri: does Mokushura Table have its own lot?

Mokushura Table sits at 54 Heyrimaeul-gil, inside Heyri Art Village in Paju, so it's easy to find even on your first visit. Heyri is notorious for parking wars, which usually makes me anxious before I even get there — but Mokushura Table has its own well-organized parking area, plus nearby public parking lots are easy to use, so even nervous drivers can pull in without any parking stress.

The building's exterior, which greets you right as you arrive, has a strong European feel — like stepping into a pretty European mansion. There are plenty of Instagram-worthy photo spots right from the entrance.

A different concept on each floor, with cloud lighting overhead

The moment you step inside, you feel a grand yet warm atmosphere. Each floor of Mokushura Table has its own distinct concept, which makes exploring genuinely fun.

The first thing that caught my eye was the fluffy 'cloud lighting' floating on the ceiling. The soft, warm glow it gives off makes the whole space feel even more fairytale-like and cozy. Both people and food photograph beautifully under it, so it's a solid spot for that perfect shot.

The light pouring in through the floor-to-ceiling windows is striking, and the open view makes it an ideal spot to relax over a meal or tea. It's stylish yet comfortable, and I'd strongly recommend it not just for couples' dates but for family visits too.

Is Mokushura Table good for kids?

One of the things I especially loved was that this is a kids-friendly space. For parents visiting with children, there are dedicated kids' areas and amenities well set up. The layout and furniture are considerate enough that children can spend time safely and comfortably without getting bored, so families with kids can enjoy their meal without worrying about disturbing others.

A must-visit after your meal is the rooftop. Head up and the quiet, green scenery of Heyri Art Village spreads out before you. Standing there with the cool breeze taking in the view, everyday stress just melts away. I'd really recommend having tea on the rooftop on a nice day.

Scallop oil pasta, Margherita pizza, and plum ade

The dish I was most looking forward to on this visit was, without question, the scallop oil pasta. As soon as the plate arrived, the fragrant oil and garlic aroma hit me. The scallops were cooked golden-brown, crisp outside and tender inside — just the right doneness — and each bite had a soft, chewy texture that made me sigh with satisfaction. The oil sauce coated the noodles nicely without any greasiness, giving a clean yet deeply savory flavor. The salty, nutty scallops paired perfectly with the spicy garlic notes, and I finished every last bite happily. If you visit Mokushura Table, this scallop oil pasta is a must-order.

The Margherita pizza is a classic Neapolitan-style pizza with a light, clean dough topped with red tomato sauce, white mozzarella, and green basil. The nuttiness of the cheese balances nicely with the freshness of the tomato. The chewy, crispy dough edge is charming, and I liked that it wasn't heavy but felt clean and light.

The seasonal signature drink, plum ade, has a tart and refreshing flavor with actual plum flesh you can bite into, rather than tasting like artificial syrup. The vivid red color and the fizzy carbonation make for a great-looking drink, and it paired really well with cutting through the richness of the Western dishes.

A big restaurant, but fast service

The taste of the food and the charm of the unusual space were both excellent, but what moved me most was the staff's kindness. Even though the place is quite large and gets a lot of visitors, every staff member kept smiling while helping guests. From explaining the menu to seating and handling requests, they were attentive and quick, so the whole meal felt like being genuinely taken care of.

The hidden library behind the small outer door

There's a secret library that many visitors miss entirely: an independent study space you reach by opening a small door on the exterior wall of the main building, separate from the dining area. Wood bookshelves covering the walls, a checkerboard floor, and luxurious Chesterfield leather sofas come together to evoke a classic, old-fashioned mansion library. A large chandelier and warm-toned spotlights create the perfect cozy atmosphere for quietly reading or chatting.

Through the door in the bookshelf, a separate private room opens up, fitted with large fabric sofas and group seating. Leather sofas and wooden tables are spaced generously apart, allowing for a relaxed rest.
