What kind of restaurant is Simhaksan Deulkkot Ssambap?

A ssambap (wrap-rice) restaurant near Simhaksan in Paju: "Simhaksan Deulkkot Ssambap."

This place is close to Unjeong in Paju too, and it's the perfect ssambap spot to fill up at after a loop around Simhaksan trail or a stop at Paju Lotte Premium Outlets — 'Simhaksan Deulkkot Ssambap'!

I've been really craving healthy but filling Korean food lately, and I heard there's a place with all-you-can-eat fresh wrap greens, so I hurried over 🏃‍♀️💨 Let's go!

Inside the Paju dining room, and baby chairs

Interior of Deulkkot Ssambap with spacious table layout

The dining room was spacious, and they had baby chairs set up too~ The spacing between tables was just right, so I could eat comfortably!

The menu: Deuljeongsik, Kkotjeongsik and a kids' set

Menu board listing Deuljeongsik and Kkotjeongsik

The menu is simple! There's Deuljeongsik ("field set"), Kkotjeongsik ("flower set"), and a kids' menu. No need to agonize — I could order right away, which was great for someone like me who always overthinks the menu haha 😚

We ordered one Deuljeongsik and one Kkotjeongsik! (If you order a single Kkotjeongsik, it comes without the grilled atka mackerel ✔️)

The wrap greens and banchan bar is all-you-can-refill

Self-serve bar filled with wrap greens

The lifeblood of a ssambap restaurant is fresh vegetables, right? There's a self-serve bar where you can take as much fresh wrap greens as you want. Being able to stack up on wrap greens freely made me so happy~~ 🥬🥗

You can also take as much of the banchan (side dishes) and senbei crackers as you like from the self-serve bar~ It's all unlimited... 👍✨

How did the Deuljeongsik and Kkotjeongsik sets taste?

Basic table setting with pumpkin porridge and salad

You get pumpkin porridge, salad, banchan, and a stew as the basics! It's served very neatly... 👍 The pumpkin porridge is really tasty too — thick and sweet... it's the perfect appetizer!

Set table with stir-fried pork and stir-fried squid
Ssambap set including gangdoenjang and doenjang stew

Both sets basically come with a generous spread of stir-fried pork + stir-fried squid + gangdoenjang (thick soybean paste) + doenjang stew + stone-pot rice!

Grilled fish included extra with the Kkotjeongsik

The difference is that the Kkotjeongsik comes with an extra golden-brown, hearty grilled fish. If you order one of each like we did, you get to taste spicy-sweet meat, squid, and clean-tasting grilled fish all at once — meat, seafood, and more in one meal. I highly recommend this ordering combo 👍

Plate of assorted wrap greens brought to the table

I brought over a variety of wrap greens too! I was planning to eat very thoroughly haha. Of the wraps, cabbage is my favorite!

Mixing the squid and stir-fried pork together and wrapping it in cabbage is the best combination...! The smoky char flavor tops it off — so, so good 🤤

Like this~ pile on the spicy stir-fried pork and chewy stir-fried squid, scoop up a big spoonful of savory gangdoenjang, and wrap it into one big bite — ahh...! I ate my wraps very thoroughly hahaha 😋

Finishing with nurungji tea from the stone-pot rice

Nurungji made by pouring water into the stone-pot rice

Scraping every last bit off the freshly cooked hot stone-pot rice, then pouring in water to make nurungji (scorched rice tea) to warm your stomach — that's perfection itself ✨ The nurungji has such a clean, mild flavor, and being warm even after the meal makes it the best healthy dessert 👍

Final verdict: who should eat at Simhaksan Deulkkot Ssambap?

Near the entrance there's even dessert ice cream and a coffee machine, perfect for a sweet finish 🍦

If you're heading out for a weekend trip to Paju Lotte Outlet or Paju Book City, or looking for a clean, genuinely good restaurant near Paju Unjeong to take your parents to, you really won't regret coming to 'Simhaksan Deulkkot Ssambap'! Getting your veggies in with fresh greens while filling up on a hearty meal — it's the best 👍

Now that the weather's cooled down, I highly recommend the course of taking a light stroll along the Simhaksan trail, then coming down for a warm nurungji and a ssambap set! 🍂✨
