Paju Heyri family restaurant with a kids zone: Mokushura Table

In short

Mokushura Table is a European-style restaurant in Heyri Village, Paju, Gyeonggi, spread over 400 pyeong and three floors. A couple shared the grilled steak salad (₩25,000), mushroom cream risotto (₩23,000) and scallop oil pasta (₩25,000), and the second floor of Mokushura Table has a book-and-block play area, kids' chairs and a diaper-changing space. Main photo of Mokushura Table in Heyri, Paju

My husband and I went out to Heyri Village and found out there's a famous large family restaurant in Paju? Mokushura Table lets you enjoy everything from brunch to pasta, risotto and steak. I'd visited Mokushura French Café a long time ago, so I had some idea of the brand's signature vibe — but Mokushura Table has a completely different charm..💛

Just exploring the space itself, from the 1st floor all the way to the 3rd-floor rooftop, is genuinely fun, so it's a perfect stop on a Heyri Village outing!

View of Heyri Village on the way to Mokushura Table

Mokushura Table is about a 4-minute walk from the Heyri Travel Station, so it was easy to stop by while wandering around Heyri Village. We parked on the roadside near the restaurant, but if parking is tight, walking a bit to Heyri Village Public Parking Lot No. 2 should work fine too.

Red brick exterior of Mokushura Table
European-style old-fashioned Mokushura Table building

The first thing that caught my eye when we arrived was the huge red brick building. With its old-fashioned European facade and quite a large scale, it felt like a nice restaurant even before we walked in the door.

Mokushura Table is apparently run as a family-focused dining space spanning a massive 400 pyeong across 3 floors.

Walking into the 1st floor, you first hit the kiosk ordering area, but once you go further in, the atmosphere completely changes.

What is the first-floor greenhouse seating like?

The 1st floor of Mokushura Table feels like a greenhouse, with chandeliers, a European-style fountain and lush green plants all mixed together. One side feels like a greenhouse or garden, while the other has a clean restaurant vibe with big picture windows — each table has a slightly different feel.

There it was — a greenhouse-like space with chandeliers, a European fountain and green plants all coming together! The real space had way more to look at than the photos suggested, so we ended up doing a lap before eating. One side felt like a greenhouse and garden, the other had a clean restaurant feel with a large picture window, so each table had its own slightly different mood.

The second-floor kids zone and library, good with a baby

The 2nd floor of Mokushura Table has a space for kids to read books, an area to play with blocks, children's chairs, and even a diaper-changing space. So it seemed like a great fit for anyone looking for a place to eat with their child while visiting Heyri Village in Paju.

Going up to the 2nd floor, you get a warm, cozy atmosphere that's different from the 1st floor. Especially the spaces prepared for family visitors were well thought out.

There's also a separate space on the 2nd floor called the Mokushura Library — as soon as you walk in, a calm space of books and wood tones opens up, the kind of place that makes you want to sit down and rest for a bit. There are plush sofa seats and various books available, and apparently you can only bring in drinks and desserts here. It seemed like a nice idea to walk around Heyri Village, have a meal, then grab a coffee and come read a book here to relax. Since the space is so big, it also seemed like a good spot to just take a break during a day trip, not only for meals. By the way, Mokushura Table is rated 'Excellent' for hygiene, which is reassuring while eating ☆~(ゝ。∂)

What's on the third floor and rooftop?

The 3rd floor felt even more open thanks to the arched picture windows. There were also cloud-shaped lights, so looking up at the ceiling was pretty cute. The 3rd floor connects to a rooftop, so on nice days you can go outside and enjoy views over Heyri Village. It was sooooo hot the day we visited, so we didn't get to check out the outdoor area, but I'd love to see the rooftop next time on a nice day.

The menu was so varied!! From salads and paninos to pizza, pasta, risotto and steak, so people with different tastes could visit together and each pick what they want. My husband and I decided to split one pasta, one risotto and one meat dish between us.

We could order easily using the kiosk screen installed at each table, so we didn't need to keep flipping through a menu and could take our time choosing.

Ordering via the tableside kiosk

What we ordered that day at Mokushura Table were three dishes: grilled steak salad (bavette, grilled vegetables, seasonal vegetables) ₩25,000, mushroom cream risotto ₩23,000, and scallop oil pasta (scallop, clam, mini cabbage) ₩25,000.

1. Grilled steak salad, ₩25,000

A plate of grilled steak salad

The first dish we tried was the grilled steak salad. Since it comes with bavette steak, grilled vegetables and seasonal vegetables, it worked well when you want something a bit lighter than eating meat alone. With the steak sitting among the fresh greens and grilled vegetables, the visual was pretty appetizing too.

The bavette had just the right chew, and eating it with the vegetables was so good! The grilled vegetables in particular let us alternate between the richness of the meat and the clean taste of the vegetables. If ordering just pasta or risotto feels a bit lacking, this is a great dish to add for some meat.

2. Mushroom cream risotto, ₩23,000

A plate of mushroom cream risotto

The second dish was my favorite — mushroom cream risotto! The creamy sauce combined with mushroom flavor made for a smooth, easy-to-eat dish.

The mushroom's subtle aroma blended well with the cream, and the sauce had soaked well into the rice, so every spoonful had a nutty, soft flavor.

3. Scallop oil pasta, ₩25,000

Table set with scallop oil pasta

Eating it alongside the steak salad, the meat's clean flavor paired well with the risotto's soft creaminess. If two of you are sharing several dishes, ordering a risotto too seems like a good idea.

Oil pasta with scallop and clams

The dish I was most looking forward to that day was the scallop oil pasta. With scallop, clam and mini cabbage all included, it had a different composition from your usual oil pasta. Being oil-based, it was cleaner to eat than a cream pasta, and you could taste the umami coming from the seafood.

With the scallops in there, it was so fun to pick them up together with the noodles! The clams added a subtle seafood richness, and the mini cabbage gave a occasional crunch, so the texture wasn't monotonous at all~ Personally, if you're looking for pasta in Heyri, Paju, and prefer a clean oil-based pasta over cream, I'd recommend this dish.

Table spread with pasta, risotto and salad

Eating all three dishes together, the flavors of the cream risotto, oil pasta and steak salad didn't overlap, so we never got tired of it till the end.

Pickles served alongside the meal

Whenever things started feeling a bit rich in the middle, having a bite of the pickles that came with the meal cleaned up the palate nicely!

Mokushura Table is currently running a 15% discount event for military, police and firefighters, so keep that in mind.

Interior seating atmosphere at Mokushura Table

Is Mokushura Table worth it for a Heyri Village outing or date?

The food at Mokushura Table was satisfying, but for me, exploring the space was the bigger draw. From the greenhouse feel of the 1st floor, to the kids zone on the 2nd floor, the pretty picture windows on the 3rd floor and rooftop, to the calm library for resting — the mood keeps changing even within a single building. So it felt like a place that's better enjoyed as a relaxed stop while strolling through Heyri Village, rather than just eating and leaving.

Visiting with my husband and slowly sharing pasta, risotto and steak was a nice experience, and it also looked comfortable for family visits.
