In short

Bultina Kkomak Jjamppong Dongtan Namgwangjang Branch is a cockle jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup) specialist at Namgwangjang square in Dongtan, Hwaseong, Gyeonggi. Visiting with two young children, the writer ordered level 3 cockle jjamppong, level 1 cockle jjamppong rice, jajangmyeon at 8,000 won and a small tangsuyuk at 17,000 won, and the yunni-jjajang style noodles and soft sweet-and-sour pork both went down easily with the kids. With high chairs and 90 minutes of free parking in the public lot right outside, Bultina Kkomak Jjamppong works well for a family meal.

Today I want to introduce a spot worth trying when you're craving jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup) in Dongtan 🙌🏻 Bultina Kkomak Jjamppong is the place my husband keeps singing praises about every time he wants jjamppong.

There's a Bultina Kkomak Jjamppong branch near Osan, but I was so happy to see one open in Dongtan too haha 🤗 Jjamppong is always a love story, especially the good ones — you never let go once you find one.

Where is Bultina Kkomak Jjamppong in Dongtan, and where do you park?

Bultina Kkomak Jjamppong Dongtan Namgwangjang Branch sits near Dongtan's Namgwangjang square, so it wasn't hard to find. You can use the building's basement parking, and the Namgwangjang public lot gives 90 minutes free!! 💙 When we arrived, the public lot was right in front of the store — total jackpot. Having parking that close is such a plus 👍🏻

What is the restaurant like inside?

Walking into Bultina Kkomak Jjamppong Dongtan Namgwangjang Branch, the atmosphere was more relaxed than I expected, perfect for an easy meal. The staff were so kind too 😘 But looking at the menu, what really caught my eye was another table's cockle jjamppong — you could tell the broth was thick just by looking at it. Definitely a Dongtan jjamppong hotspot!!!!! 🍜

Relaxed interior seating area of the restaurant

The menu is posted outside too, so you can check it as you pass by. But just go in ❗️ It's genuinely, seriously delicious~~

Onion, pickled radish, and cutlery are all set up at the self-serve bar, plus my favorite thing — black aprons 🖤 White aprons show every stain so you keep worrying about them, but black ones don't show anything, so you can focus fully on the food.

High chairs, waitlist and phone charger at Bultina Kkomak Jjamppong

The baby chair is right next to the CatchTable kiosk 👶 If there's a wait, don't overthink it — just register on CatchTable right away. There's a reason people wait. There's also a charger at the counter, FYI!

Can't skip the review event. Wait, the review event gives you 6 fried dumplings? They just give you that many?????? We'd already ordered tangsuyuk so we skipped it, but every other table ordered tangsuyuk AND got the fried dumplings from the review event?? Next time I'm definitely claiming those dumplings!!! 🩷

What we ordered and what it cost

The menu is simple, right? You know there are tons of jjamppong varieties these days. But here, they bet everything on cockle jjamppong 🤤 And if you win with that, Bultina Kkomak Jjamppong just wins, period.

  • Cockle jjamppong (level 3) ₩11,000
  • Cockle jjamppong rice (level 1) ₩11,000
  • Jajangmyeon ₩8,000
  • Tangsuyuk (small) ₩17,000

Here's what we ordered — my heart was pounding, pounding, I was so hungry.

Table set after placing the order
Basic side dishes: pickled radish, onion, and chunjang

While we waited for the food, the staff brought over pickled radish, onion, and chunjang (black bean paste). Our Seou immediately started munching the pickled radish. She wanted the onion too... no, sweetie, not the onion 🫠

Sign explaining daily fresh ingredient deliveries used up same-day

I really like that they only use ingredients delivered every morning and use them up the same day 😍 Freshness is their promise. Everything cooked to order, with the owner starting prep at 8am — that's reassuring. Nicely done, Bultina Kkomak Jjamppong 👍🏻

Door connecting to the restroom inside the building

My favorite thing — the restroom is close by haha 🚻 It's the building's shared restroom, but there's a door connecting straight to the building interior, so you don't have to go back outside. You don't know how precious that one door is in summer or winter haha

Small tangsuyuk topped generously with onion

Small tangsuyuk: our child ate half of it

The small tangsuyuk at Bultina Kkomak Jjamppong Dongtan Namgwangjang Branch is ₩17,000, and they piled on so much onion on top. Finally, the tangsuyuk arrives 🩷 Eating tangsuyuk with onion is basically guaranteed delicious, and the first bite got a 'wow, insane' out of me haha. The batter was just right and the meat inside was thick and plentiful. I regretted ordering the small size... should've gotten the medium.

Our little foodie Seou ate half of it haha. Kept asking for more, and more. She usually stops eating partway through, but the meat in this tangsuyuk was so soft that she didn't stop.

Jajangmyeon in yunni-jjajang style with finely minced vegetables

Yunni-jjajang style jajangmyeon, easy for kids to eat

The ₩8,000 jajangmyeon was exactly my style. The vegetables in the black bean sauce come all finely minced — that's the yunni-jjajang style! Because the vegetables are minced, Siu and Seou both ate it without any fuss. It looked so good I took a bite too, and wow, it was so smooth and delicious 🤤

Level 1 cockle jjamppong rice topped with cockles and scallops

Level 1 cockle jjamppong rice and level 3 cockle jjamppong compared

The level 1 cockle jjamppong rice comes loaded not just with cockles but tons of clams and scallops too. It's perfect for me especially, since I like eating both noodles and rice, but I can never finish everything so I always end up leaving one or the other. This dish only has a small portion of noodles mixed in, so I can have both without waste.

But seriously, what is this broth?? Why is it so thick?? The flavor runs so deep. One spoonful and — wow. And the cockles, scallops, clams are all so plump?? The scallops are seriously fat. Fat seafood is the best seafood~~~ 👍🏻

Just look at all those hearty toppings on the level 3 cockle jjamppong!!! This jjamppong really is Bultina Kkomak Jjamppong's whole identity. My husband is obsessed with spicy food — he tried to order level 4 but the staff looked so alarmed he downgraded to level 3, and he still ate it sweating buckets haha. He said it was seriously delicious, perfect for curing a hangover — we'd had a work dinner the night before, so timing worked out haha. He finished it off by mixing in rice and slurped the broth down to the last drop 👍🏻

How was Bultina Kkomak Jjamppong as a family meal?

Today we tried Bultina Kkomak Jjamppong near Dongtan's Namgwangjang, loaded with cockles, and if you're the type who loves a spicy seafood jjamppong, this hearty broth with cockles piled in will hit the spot. There's also the yunni-jjajang style noodles that are easy to eat with kids, plus soft tangsuyuk! Bultina Kkomak Jjamppong Dongtan Namgwangjang Branch was a solid choice for a family meal — if you've been looking for a good jjamppong spot in Dongtan, definitely go!! Guaranteed good.
