Beef ribs vs pork ribs comparison at Grill the Terrace, Dongtan

In short

Grill the Terrace Dongtan Main Branch is a charcoal beef and pork BBQ restaurant on the first floor of the cinema building at Dongtan's North Plaza in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi. The writer ordered Uiseong six-clove garlic beef short ribs (200g) alongside Uiseong garlic pork ribs (300g) to compare the mild beef and the sweet-marinated pork, finishing with doenjang jjigae and cold noodles for dessert. With a lush green interior looking out over a fountain through floor-to-ceiling windows, good charcoal, and solid air conditioning, it's a great pick for group meals or family dinners.

Today I want to introduce Grill the Terrace Dongtan Main Branch, a place at Dongtan's North Plaza with both great vibes and great meat!

My other half summed it up in one line after eating here.

A budget-friendly beef and pork BBQ place that feels like camping in the middle of the city!

That description really fit haha. The lush green interior, the fountain visible through the floor-to-ceiling windows, and even the charcoal condition were all great. We tried both the beef ribs and pork ribs, and we each had a different favorite — that's how good both were.

If you're looking for a Dongtan beef restaurant with good atmosphere too, I really, really recommend this place! ❤️

Parking at this Dongtan North Plaza restaurant

I drove here, and parking was better than I expected! Since the building has a movie theater, it feels like they tried hard to secure as many parking spots as possible haha. The lot isn't huge, but if you look around a bit there were quite a few spots.

After parking in the basement, you just take the elevator up to the first floor. Parking can be a hassle when driving to restaurants near Dongtan's North Plaza, but this place made it easy since you can park right in the building. And 3 hours free is really generous haha.

A genuinely lush, terrace-like atmosphere

The moment I walked in, I understood why it's called Grill the Terrace. The whole restaurant is decorated with greenery, giving it a much fresher feel than a typical BBQ place.

There were about three terrace-style tables right in front of the floor-to-ceiling windows, so you can eat while looking outside. When I visited, the windows were open and there was even a fountain outside, so the atmosphere was really great haha.

Even the waiting area chairs weren't just regular chairs — they were camping chairs!! That little detail is probably what made my other half's 'camping in the city' comment feel even more accurate.

There were quite a lot of tables and the space felt pretty spacious, so it looked like a good spot for a group gathering or company dinner of around 8 people too.

A varied menu, from beef to pork

Menu board featuring both beef and pork dishes

The menu offers both beef and pork.

  • Uiseong six-clove garlic beef short ribs 200g, ₩17,800
  • Uiseong garlic pork ribs 300g, ₩23,700
  • Doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew), rice
  • Dessert cold noodles: spicy mixed or water-based

This is what we ordered!! Even if you come here searching for Dongtan beef restaurants, it's nice that you can also order pork dishes. I'd recommend ordering both to compare, like we did!

Don't miss the Naver review event

Sign explaining the Naver review event

Grill the Terrace has a pretty generous Naver review event!! If you order a main dish or 3 or more servings, you can participate once per table.

  • Pork ribs 300g for ₩11,700
  • Whole-potato beef hangover soup for just ₩1,000!

If you're planning to write a review, this is definitely worth taking advantage of haha. Pork ribs 300g for ₩11,700 is a solid deal.

Side dishes that pair well with the meat

A spread of basic side dishes including kimchi and mountain leek pickle

The basic side dishes included kimchi, pickled radish, mountain leek pickle (myeongi namul), macaroni salad, and various pickled vegetables, along with salt, whole-grain mustard, and wasabi for pairing with the meat.

Instead of feeling like they just threw out a random assortment, it felt like they picked side dishes you'd actually reach for while eating meat! The mountain leek pickle especially went really well with the beef ribs.

Great charcoal and air conditioning, even in summer

What I liked as much as the meat here was the charcoal!! The charcoal condition looked really good and the heat was strong enough to grill the meat nicely.

But sitting right in front of a charcoal grill in summer can get so hot, right? This place seemed mindful of that — they had a fan running, and the AC was set to 16 degrees when I visited.

Thanks to that, even grilling right next to the charcoal, it wasn't as hot as I expected and I could eat comfortably.

Mild beef ribs vs. sweet pork ribs

Table setup with salt-seasoned Uiseong garlic beef short ribs

We chose the salt-seasoned beef ribs. Since the seasoning wasn't too strong, the meat had a clean, mild flavor — and this was my other half's favorite!

They said wrapping the beef ribs in mountain leek pickle added a salty note to the mild meat, creating a really nice balance. If you're looking for beef in Dongtan, definitely try the beef ribs!

Uiseong garlic pork ribs, 300g

My pick, on the other hand, was the pork ribs!! The reason is simple — the sauce was so good haha. The sweet and salty pork rib marinade caramelized slightly on the charcoal, picking up a smoky flavor that kept me reaching for more.

In the end I went with pork ribs and my other half went with beef ribs, but we agreed both were delicious haha.

If you like a clean flavor, go for the beef ribs; if you like a sweet marinade, go for the pork ribs!

Pork ribs paired with water-based cold noodles: recommended!

A bowl of dessert water-based cold noodles
A bowl of dessert spicy mixed cold noodles

For dessert, we each ordered a water-based cold noodle (mul-naengmyeon) and a spicy mixed cold noodle (bibim-naengmyeon). Both are ₩4,000 as a dessert-sized portion. I loved eating a bite of water-based cold noodles between bites of pork ribs!!

After the sweet marinated ribs, a cool bite of water-based noodles really cleanses your palate haha. If you order the pork ribs, I'd recommend pairing it with the water-based cold noodles.

The doenjang jjigae was more solid than expected

We also added a doenjang jjigae for ₩6,000 and rice for ₩1,000. The stew had a generous amount of tofu and especially a lot of enoki mushrooms, which I loved.

It wasn't just the ingredients — the broth itself was delicious too?! Even after eating meat and cold noodles, the rice with doenjang jjigae still went down easily... haha. You really can't skip doenjang jjigae at a BBQ place.

A Dongtan BBQ restaurant that delivers on both atmosphere and meat

Overall, I was fully satisfied with Grill the Terrace — the lush green atmosphere, the outdoor view, the good charcoal, and the delicious meat all came together.

Even though it's a charcoal BBQ place, they made sure the restaurant wasn't too hot, which made it comfortable, and both the beef ribs and pork ribs were delicious, so you could pick based on your preference.

Just like my other half said, it really was a budget-friendly beef and pork BBQ place with a camping-in-the-city feel haha. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a good-atmosphere Dongtan beef restaurant, a restaurant near Dongtan's North Plaza, or a good Dongtan BBQ spot for family dinners or group gatherings :)
