Large Daegu café near Yonggye Station with airplane view: Slow But

The weather was finally nice this weekend after a while, so I couldn't stay home — went for a drive to a large café nearby. I found such a pretty place that I'm bringing you an honest review with dessert + life shots ☺️

Slow But Barrel Daegu: location, hours, parking

It was such a rare nice weekend that I couldn't stand staying inside. So I visited this large café out in Dong-gu!

Slow But Barrel's exterior was so clean, and the greenery scattered everywhere was charming. The entrance separates the car drop-off area from the walking path, which felt safe and thoughtful!

They sell peach bingsu (shaved ice) and apricot smoothies made with apricots and peaches they grow themselves, which looked great for kids and families. Let's head inside properly.

The cherry zone right as you walk in — looks like these are also grown and sold directly by the café.

Touring the 1,350-pyeong bakery and prices

Such a huge café~ time for the bread-lover's mission!! Let's look at the bread. (I visited around 4pm on Saturday and about half of most breads were already sold out 🥹 If you want the good stuff, I'd recommend coming early in the morning!)

Neither my boyfriend nor I had eaten yet, so we ordered filling bread, haha. The peach croissant was a new item so we had to try it! Now let's actually look around the café.

Indoor and outdoor spaces, and the spot where you can see planes

It's single-story but really huge, with lots of tables! On one wall there's a video introducing the fruit they grow themselves. Plenty of wide tables made it perfect for group gatherings with family or friends!

There are three doors — aside from the main entrance, two lead outside. One space had a pyramid sculpture that blended nicely with the plants on top, giving off a trendy, unusual vibe. Younger visitors would love this!

This pyramid structure was so unique and different, I loved it! And with the weather cooling down, eating outside felt great. Next to it, the pyramid was covered in grass — another different vibe.

One area had a sandbox and toys for kids, which looked great for bringing young children!

There was also a space with big tables. So many unusual design touches everywhere, fun to look at.

And I spotted a plane..!! It was great being able to see planes pass by regularly. We decided to eat here! Since it was cool enough to eat outside, it was perfect. Let's really enjoy fall~~

Taste review

Peach-filled croissant: crispy outside, soft inside, and the tangy peach cream and peach pieces went so well together! The tartness of the peach cream paired beautifully with the croissant.

Cheese ciabatta + fig jam: after one sweet bread, I went for something more basic — the ciabatta was so soft even eaten plain. Moist enough to call this place a legit bakery 👍👍 And spreading on the fig jam I bought made it absolutely delicious!!

I wished there was more fig jam, haha. It was that good. After finishing, we went to explore another part of the café!!

This area had a vibe that older visitors would probably enjoy!

Going outside, there was an outdoor terrace. With the weather cooling down, it looked great to eat here too. There were also hydrangeas — a bit past their peak, which was a little disappointing, but it must be gorgeous during hydrangea season. The grass on the ground had an odd, Alice in Wonderland-ish feel that was pretty.

After looking around, I went back inside to explore Slow But Barrel more! I got some great photos here too — there are so many photo spots scattered around, it was great for pictures.

To sum up

• If you're looking for a large café in Daegu, a café in Dong-gu, a unique café in Daegu, or a dessert café in Daegu, I highly recommend this one!
• True to a 1,350-pyeong large café, even though it's single-story, the size is huge, and besides the indoor space there are two outdoor terraces too — plenty of room to relax however you like!
• Wide variety of coffee and bread, with quality good enough that the bread beats many dedicated bakeries. Bread lovers will be very satisfied here!
• For a large café, the coffee and bakery prices are quite reasonable, which made it even more satisfying.
