Daegu café with milk cream rolls and iced lattes: Hands Coffee
In short
Hands Coffee Dongchon Resort Branch is a large brunch café in Dong-gu, Daegu, with views of the Geumho River and forest. We lingered by the floor-to-ceiling windows over iced lattes, Martinelli’s Sparkling Apple Juice, waffles, and milk cream rolls. Verdict: a café I would happily return to again and again.

If you’re looking for a brunch café with a great view in Dong-gu, Daegu
Last month, I visited Hands Coffee at Dongchon Resort. It is already widely known as a great brunch spot in Dong-gu, Daegu, but once you visit, it has that kind of charm that keeps drawing you back. I have made a point of stopping by with friends whenever I am in the area for the past few years. It sits on a hill behind Daeguil Meister High School, close to Ayang Art Center and Mangwoo Park.
Daily 10:00–23:00 Open year-round

There is a large dedicated parking lot right in front of the building, so it was easy to park comfortably without any stress.

Take the elevator to the second floor and you will find the ordering and pickup area, along with tables.

The interior connects all the way up to the fourth floor. The scale is impressive, with plenty of tables and seats, and although it is always bustling, it somehow never feels chaotic. I really loved that.

Across from the pickup counter, there were displays of everyday items for sale, from tumblers to coffee beans. There were also goods such as kettles, drippers, and mugs, which would make perfect gifts.
There were already plenty of seats on the second floor, but since I was here, I wanted to look around properly. Curious about the third floor, I headed upstairs.

Geumho River views from the third floor and rooftop
The third floor had the same classic interior as downstairs, but with a more open outlook. You could take in the forest and river views at a glance, and the scenery was truly a work of art—enough to be one of the main reasons to come here.

It is great for enjoying coffee alone, and there are generous group tables too, making it ideal for stopping by after a work dinner or using as a gathering spot.

With its gentle music and characteristically calm atmosphere, it is just right for a date or a study session. Visitors of all ages seemed to come here.

The fourth-floor rooftop has a slightly different feel from the other floors. It has floor-seating areas that feel like a living room, so it is fine to visit with a baby, and you can see not only the Geumho River but also distant Palgongsan Mountain. Just being able to enjoy such lush forest and beautiful views right in the city felt like reason enough to visit.
In early autumn like this season, or in spring, it would be lovely to come out to the rooftop terrace seats for a little healing time. I lost track of time just looking at the atmospheric little objects placed here and there.

From coffee to brunch and desserts
Hands Coffee Dongchon Resort Branch is a Dongchon Resort café where you can enjoy a wide range of coffee, drinks, and food against a beautiful Geumho River view. There were countless options, including hand-drip coffee, espresso, mélange, smoothies, and frappes, so the choice was wonderfully broad.

The hand-drip lineup also had selections that would win over coffee enthusiasts, including Ethiopia Yirgacheffe, Hambela Natural, Kenya, and Colombia.

As befits a well-known brunch spot in Dong-gu, Daegu, brunch is available from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. You can enjoy generous, nourishing dishes such as a ham and cheese sandwich, jalapeño soft jambon-beurre, creamy mushroom pasta, truffle button mushroom soup, and chicken granola salad.

The showcase was also filled with mouthwatering desserts, including chocolate cake, tiramisu, and crêpes.

For such a large place, the dessert selection was endless, and choosing was half the fun.

Ordering iced lattes, waffles, and milk cream rolls
With our usual preferences in mind, we ordered iced lattes, refreshing Martinelli’s Sparkling Apple Juice, waffles, and milk cream rolls.

The whole interior had floor-to-ceiling windows, giving it an incredible sense of openness. With our favorite things on the table, we stayed without noticing the time passing.

It was muggy that day, so I was craving something cold. The deep, nutty flavor of the chilled iced latte was more than enough to quench my thirst.

The simple, tidy plating was so pretty that it almost felt too good to eat.

The freshly baked, piping-hot waffle could be called this place’s signature. Crispy outside and chewy inside, it was pure honeyed deliciousness, and I could understand why this café is so popular at Dongchon Resort.

I savored it with generous dips into the whipped cream served alongside, and my rain-induced melancholy simply melted away.

Häagen-Dazs ice cream was included too, and since there were two flavors to choose from, I picked strawberry and green tea.

The roll was soft and moist, melting in my mouth like snow. Its rich flavor made it just perfect.

With the flavor expected of a great brunch spot in Dong-gu, Daegu, and an atmosphere all its own, Hands Coffee is an appealing Dongchon Resort café every time I visit—and one I will keep returning to.
