Daegu café with matcha red bean waffles: Hands Coffee

In short

Hands Coffee Dongchon Resort Branch is a multi-level café in Dong-gu, Daegu. I had a cold brew latte, long black, and matcha red bean waffle while enjoying its spacious seating and antique-style interior; brunch ends at 5 PM. Verdict: the chewy matcha waffle is a must for matcha lovers.

Dongchon Resort is a lovely spot I visit pretty often, and I noticed a brand-new Hands Coffee there that I hadn't seen before, so I rushed over!! Big cafés like this are especially precious, you know. So off I went right away.

Newly opened Hands Coffee at Dongchon Resort

The weather has gotten so nice—it feels like it’s finally time for a Dongchon Resort outing 😄

A visit to Hands Coffee at Dongchon Resort

What about parking and hours?

As you’d expect from a large Daegu café, it has a fully equipped parking lot, so you can visit without parking worries! There’s plenty of space, and there also seems to be lots of street parking nearby, so it should be fine.

It sits a little uphill, so the parking-lot view is amazing. The weather had really warmed up!! The sky was clear and I felt so good 🩵 Hours are 10 AM to 11 PM.

Order on the second floor—how far does the café extend?

When you enter the building, you’ll see Hands Coffee banners, but ordering is on the second floor, so you need to head up one level.

Inside the building that houses Hands Coffee

There’s a meat restaurant on the first floor. It looked perfect for having a meal there and then going straight upstairs to Hands Coffee for coffee. Remember, you need to order on the second floor.

Route from the first-floor restaurant to the second-floor café

Floors two, three, and four are all café space. You order on the second floor; floors two and three are indoors, while the fourth floor is a rooftop. Now that the weather is nice, it’s the perfect time for outdoor drinks, and I think the rooftop would be so lovely!

The stairs aren’t steep, and there’s an elevator too, which is convenient!

There’s a kiosk, so it’s handy to use when it gets a little busy. The menu photos are easy to see too, so I recommend using it.

Spacious and varied café seating

Antique furniture and spacious seating

The seating is truly spacious and varied, making it great for work or studying, sitting back to relax, or coming with a group! They were selling cold brew concentrate too. Even the little accessories had been considered—such detailed, atmospheric decor.

Here’s the overall feel of the seating and café. A bit European? There was lots of antique furniture, and I think it had the prettiest interior of any Hands Coffee branch I’ve visited.

A neat, open bar. Once you order, they make announcements over the microphone? They also occasionally make parking-related announcements.

Brunch and waffle menu

A look at the menu! Hands Coffee’s brunch menu is only available until 5 PM, so keep that in mind. We arrived a little late and sadly couldn’t have it ㅠㅠ Next time, I’m planning to come back during brunch hours, haha.

Brunch and waffle menu information

There were lots of waffle options and desserts. Hands Coffee is famous for its waffles, right!! We ordered a waffle immediately, haha. The interior was so pretty and the lighting was gorgeous too. I couldn’t not take a selfie! The warm yellow lighting is so atmospheric, isn’t it?

Matcha red bean waffle and long black

The view was lovely from our window seat too. We ordered a cold brew latte, long black, and matcha waffle. For reference, Hands Coffee does not have iced Americanos.

The difference between an Americano and a long black—Hands Coffee goes for long blacks!

Matcha red bean waffle and green tea gelato

Look at that matcha waffle. Its full name is the matcha red bean waffle. A matcha-batter waffle topped with a thin layer of sweet red bean paste and pleasantly bitter green tea gelato—what a combination that simply can’t taste bad!!

Warm matcha red bean waffle cut in half

We ruthlessly cut it in half. The batter was genuinely warm and soft... You can see how chewy it looks even in the photo, right? Sooo chewy ㅠㅠ Matcha lovers absolutely have to try it. Crispy outside and moist inside—the definition of perfection.

Group seating and detailed interiors

Let me show you a few more photos of the different seating areas.

There are group tables too, so anyone looking for a Daegu café for a group, take note!!

The decor had even been considered in the restroom, which made me happy. It gave me a little secondhand feeling of traveling in Europe, haha. The interior was seriously so pretty that I already want to go again!!!

I’ll be revisiting Hands Coffee Dongchon Resort Branch next time for a brunch set. I recommend it so, so much 💖
