Weekend patio bossam with a kid in Yongin: Cheongdam Jokbal

Looking for somewhere to eat out with my kid this weekend, I searched for Sanghyeon Station restaurants and ended up at Cheongdam Jokbal Gwanggyo Sanghyeon Branch.

It's a jokbal (boiled pork trotters) place, but what we ordered that day was actually bossam (boiled pork wraps)! I figured bossam would be a bit easier to eat with a kid than jokbal, so I went with that — and it turned out my kid ate it way better than I expected, which made for a really satisfying meal.

Patio tables that make it easy to sit down with a child

One thing I especially liked that day was that they have outdoor tables. Eating indoors is nice on a good weather day too, but when you're eating with a kid, having an outdoor seat really changes the mood.

You can eat outside without feeling cooped up, so as long as the weather cooperates, an outdoor table is a nice, relaxed way to enjoy the meal.

What we ordered at Cheongdam Jokbal: bossam, not jokbal

We visited with our kid and had a comfortable meal. That day we didn't even hesitate — we went straight for bossam! Bossam really is best eaten warm.

Side dishes to go with the meat were laid out, and wrapping the bossam in lettuce or eating it with kimchi made for a filling meal.

Most importantly, I'd been looking for something my kid could eat too, and my baby actually ate the bossam well. When eating out with a kid, food that's too spicy or too intense makes it hard to share a meal — but that day the bossam went down easily, which meant I could eat comfortably too. If you're looking for a Sanghyeon Station restaurant to visit with a kid, this is probably an important point to consider.

The makguksu that comes with bossam when you dine in

And the makguksu (buckwheat noodles) that came with the bossam can't be left out either. When you're eating a lot of meat, you start craving something tangy-sweet like makguksu, and it paired really well with the bossam.

A bite of bossam with some makguksu on top, then a bit of kimchi — it's a combination that keeps your hand reaching back for more!

I actually confirmed through recent visitor reviews that Cheongdam Jokbal Gwanggyo Sanghyeon Branch provides makguksu free with dine-in orders. Eating just meat can get a bit rich, but having makguksu alongside made it easy to cut the richness in between bites.

Is Cheongdam Jokbal good for a family meal out in Yongin?

What I realized on this visit is that just because it's a jokbal place doesn't mean you have to order jokbal! Bossam like we ordered worked well for eating with a kid, and with outdoor tables available too, it made for a great family outing on a nice day.
