In short
Hwaro Yangmi Gwanggyo Sanghyeon Station Branch is a lamb rib restaurant near Sanghyeon Station in Suji-gu, Yongin, Gyeonggi, where chilled Australian young lamb is grilled over a charcoal brazier. A mother and her son in his 30s ordered the special mixed set — shoulder rack, lamb sirloin and seasoned mini ribs — which staff grilled and cut at the table, and the meat stayed juicy without a strong gamey smell. Deciding what to eat with my son can be surprisingly tricky. He's in his 30s and loves meat, while I can't handle anything too greasy or strongly scented. Looking for something we'd both enjoy, we ended up going for lamb ribs that day.

When I eat lamb, the smell is what I worry about most, and this time we went to Hwaro Yangmi Gwanggyo Sanghyeon Station Branch. What I liked most that day was how tender the meat was and how mild the smell was, plus the fact that the staff grilled it for us, letting my son and I just chat and eat comfortably. By the end of the meal, I thought this place was worth recommending to anyone looking for a good lamb rib restaurant in Gwanggyo.

What lamb does Hwaro Yangmi in Gwanggyo use?
Hwaro Yangmi specializes in premium chilled lamb ribs. They use Australian lamb under a year old, air-imported chilled rather than frozen.
The type of lamb used can make a big difference in texture and aroma, and this time the meat was clearly tender. Rather than any toughness, what came through first when chewing was juiciness, with a subtle milky, savory flavor that felt distinctive.
The strong gamey smell people often associate with lamb wasn't very noticeable, so even someone sensitive to smell like me could eat comfortably. One thing I look for in a good Gwanggyo lamb rib restaurant is being able to enjoy the lamb's own flavor without discomfort, and on that front it was quite satisfying. Grilling over charcoal instead of a regular pan also added a subtle smoky aroma to the meat.

What's in the special mixed set, and how each cut tastes
We didn't order anything else that day — just the Special Mixed Set.

It comes with shoulder rack, lamb sirloin, and seasoned mini lamb rib. Being able to try different cuts rather than just one was nice for the two of us to share.

We started with the shoulder rack, which was thick and looked appetizing right away. Once cooked, it stayed juicy and chewed softly. The lamb sirloin had a different feel — lighter and cleaner-tasting.

The seasoned mini lamb rib came pre-marinated, and the flavor difference from the salt-grilled lamb we'd just had was clear.

I personally liked being able to try a little of each cut. But what I appreciated most was that the staff grilled the meat for us.

Figuring out how well-done the lamb ribs should be, and cutting them into bite-sized pieces, can be a bit of a hassle — but the staff handled all of that, grilling and cutting the meat to just the right size.
Thanks to that, my son and I could just chat while the meat cooked and eat it warm right away, which made things much easier.
Worried about the smell of lamb? How it tasted here
Even though I like lamb, I usually avoid places where the smell is strong. But the meat we had that day barely had the odor I was worried about.

Of course, how strong the smell feels can vary by cut and personal taste, but at least for what I ate, a savory, mild flavor came through before any gaminess.

The tender texture typical of young lamb probably helped too — it wasn't chewy at all, just moist. And the juiciness that burst in the mouth was so savory and clean, with no off-flavors, that the meat practically melted in your mouth.
So I think this place would work well not just for my son, who already loves lamb ribs, but also for people like me who hesitate because of the smell.

Partitioned tables: is Hwaro Yangmi good for a group dinner near Sanghyeon Station?
Hwaro Yangmi Gwanggyo Sanghyeon Station Branch has partitions between tables, so it doesn't feel like you're right up against the next table, giving each group a more private dining atmosphere. Since it was just my son and me, this made for a cozy meal, and looking around, there were families eating together as well as larger groups.

If you're looking for a good spot for a group dinner near Sanghyeon Station, this kind of seating layout matters quite a bit. Sitting too close to the next table can make conversation awkward, and usually someone ends up stuck grilling — but here, the staff does the grilling, so that burden is gone. It was comfortable for the two of us, but I also think it would work well for office groups looking for a good spot for a Gwanggyo group dinner.

A dinner that needed nothing but the lamb ribs
Hwaro Yangmi apparently also serves a variety of Chinese dishes alongside the lamb. But that day we didn't order anything extra beyond the Special Mixed Set. Since it was a day meant for slowly enjoying lamb and conversation with my son, we wanted to focus on tasting the meat itself rather than ordering a lot of different things.

That said, if you're visiting with a larger group, ordering lamb ribs alongside some Chinese dishes to share could work well too. This kind of menu variety could also be an advantage when looking for a good Gwanggyo group dinner spot, since people can choose other dishes if lamb alone doesn't suit everyone.
Gwanggyo lamb ribs with my son: the verdict on Hwaro Yangmi
Now that I'm in my 60s, what matters more than sheer quantity is being able to eat delicious, tender meat comfortably.
In that sense, the lamb ribs at Hwaro Yangmi that day were quite satisfying. Being chilled young lamb, the texture was tender and juicy, and grilling it over charcoal brought out even more flavor.

Most of all, having the staff grill the meat and cut it into easy-to-eat pieces made the whole meal genuinely comfortable for us. Chatting about the lamb and everything else, the meat disappeared before we knew it. I'd happily go back next time I'm craving lamb ribs.

If you're looking for a good lamb rib restaurant in Gwanggyo and want mild, tender young lamb and the comfort of staff grilling it for you, this place is worth checking out. It could work as a spot for family meals or gatherings near Sanghyeon Station, or as a comfortable place for larger groups looking for a good Gwanggyo group dinner. Next time, I think I'll pick a Chinese dish to share with the lamb ribs with my son.
