Kid-friendly dinner at a Gwanggyo pizza restaurant: The European

In short

The European Gwanggyo is a wood-fired pizza restaurant tucked inside the Gwanggyo café street in Suwon, Gyeonggi, where the pizza is made by a chef with 10 years of experience at the Shilla Hotel Seoul. After an academy makeup class ran late, the writer and her elementary-school child ordered the quattro formaggi hamón pizza (30,000 won) from the tableside kiosk, and the toppings were so generous that it was exactly enough for two. With a large chandelier, an antique two-floor layout and baby chairs, The European Gwanggyo is an easy choice for dinner with a child.

When my kid's academy makeup class ended, it was already dinner time, and she said she wanted wood-fired pizza. 🍕 So we went on a dinner date to 'The European Gwanggyo,' a wood-fired pizza restaurant on the Gwanggyo café street run by a chef with 10 years of experience at the Shilla Hotel Seoul.💖

Where is The European Gwanggyo, and where do you park?

The European Gwanggyo is at 26 Centralpark-ro128beon-gil, 1st floor, Yeongtong-gu, Suwon, close to Café Street 2 Public Parking Lot. Head slightly inward past Bbong Chef and you'll find it easily. 😉 You can park right in front of the store, so feel free to drive over. If it's full, there's roadside parking on the street in front, or Café Street 2 Public Parking Lot (1297-1 Uiui-dong, Yeongtong-gu, Suwon-si, Gyeonggi-do, free on weekdays 09:00–18:00!). Business hours are daily 11:00–21:30, last order 20:30. My kid and I live nearby, so we walked.

Inside The European Gwanggyo: chandelier and antique two-floor interior

Walking into The European Gwanggyo, the space is split between the 1st and 2nd floors. 🏰 It has an overall antique yet upscale feel, making it perfect for a couples' date too. 💕 The huge chandelier that catches your eye right away is truly gorgeous and pretty.✨

It felt like stepping into a luxurious British royal castle and becoming a princess.👑 Various types of seating are set up, so it's great for gatherings or meals of all kinds! The restaurant also has clean restrooms inside and even baby chairs, so it's good for bringing little ones too. 👶

Even the basic table setting is full of charm and cute — the flower-shaped plates with a princess-style tableware feel are totally my taste. 🌸

The European Gwanggyo menu and kiosk ordering

At The European Gwanggyo, you order via the kiosk at your table. A variety of wood-fired pizzas, pastas, salads, and more are available. 🍝 We ordered the quattro formaggi hamón pizza (₩30,000). 🧀 My kid picked it herself, saying it looked delicious.👶

Quattro formaggi hamón wood-fired pizza: enough for an adult and a child

While we waited after ordering, my kid did her academy homework (the life of an elementary schooler, ugh.ㅠ.ㅠ), and then The European Gwanggyo's quattro formaggi hamón pizza arrived. 🍕 It was almost too pretty to eat... They also gave us sweet honey to dip it in. 🍯

Since it was just the two of us, I thought we might need to order more if the portion was small, but the pizza was so loaded with toppings that it was just the right amount for us two and left us full. 😋 There's plenty of mozzarella cheese, so each slice feels satisfyingly heavy. 🧀

The ricotta cheese piled on top of the wood-fired pizza is also creamy and generously heaped on, rich yet nutty and fresh. 🧀

The salty, fresh hamón (Spanish ham) on top makes the whole thing taste bright and fresh, and underneath it there's grana padano, emmental, and cheddar — a mix of cheeses that gives it a deep, rich cheese flavor. 🧀✨

Dipping the wood-fired pizza crust end into honey

How is the wood-fired pizza dough baked?

The pizza dough at The European Gwanggyo is fermented for 18 hours and aged for 24 hours, then baked at 485°C in a high-end Stefano Ferrara wood-fired oven. Maybe that's why even the dough alone tastes clean and nutty. 🔥 The crust is crispy outside and chewy inside, and dipping it in honey adds sweetness — I usually don't eat the pizza crust end, but this time I enjoyed it all the way through. 🍯

I had a happy, fun date eating delicious wood-fired pizza with my kid. 💖 If you're looking for a good Gwanggyo restaurant, a Gwanggyo café street spot with a great atmosphere, or a restaurant near Gwanggyo Lake Park, be sure to visit 'The European Gwanggyo.' 😊
