When the weather turns cool or you're craving something hearty and homestyle, oven-grilled fish with all the grease cooked out is always the first thing that comes to mind for me. I've always loved grilled fish that's crispy outside and juicy inside, so I've been keeping an eye out for a place nearby that really does it right. When I heard a new spot had opened on the first floor of the Kids Mom Center in Bisan-dong, my daughter and I rushed over right away.

The place I want to introduce is Hwaddeugeuro Gan Godeungeo (화덕으로간고등어) Bisan Branch, which is quickly becoming a hot grilled-fish spot in Bisan-dong, Anyang.

High-quality fish grilled in a 500℃ clay oven, a tasty self-serve side-dish bar, and a clean, tidy dining room — this place nails all three, making it a genuine Bisan-dong, Anyang grilled fish must-visit.
Location, hours, and parking
It's located at 272 Gwanak-daero, Dongan-gu, Anyang-si (1st floor, Bisan-dong Kids Mom Center), so it was really easy to find. It's open daily from 11am to 9:30pm, with a break time from 3pm to 4:30pm for ingredient prep and rest — worth keeping in mind before you visit.
Parking is convenient thanks to the building's basement lot, so it's great if you're driving. That said, it can fill up during weekend lunch or peak hours, so I'd recommend arriving a little early or checking the situation before you head over.
The dining room and seating for families with kids
The moment I walked in, the spacious, comfortable hall caught my eye — everything was kept so clean and tidy that I felt good just stepping through the door.

Naver Reservations are supported too, so if you're coming with a group, booking ahead makes things much smoother.
In the back, there's private seating for group reservations, and high chairs are well stocked, so it's genuinely great for family meals, group gatherings, or dining with kids.

What my daughter and I picked: crab jang set and Atka mackerel
Sitting down and looking over the menu, there were so many delicious options that it turned into a happy dilemma.
My daughter, who loves gejang (soy/spicy marinated crab) so much, picked the 'West Sea Full Crab Jang + Oven-Grilled Fish' set (₩21,000) the instant she saw it on the menu — no hesitation. It's a solid combo that lets you enjoy plump West Sea crab jang and 500℃ oven-grilled fish all in one go, basically heaven for crab jang fans. I went with something I usually love — the light, savory 'oven-grilled Atka mackerel' (₩20,000).
For reference, the signature oven-grilled mackerel (₩16,000), the health-boosting set for two (₩43,000), the spicy pork set meal, and the braised mackerel and radish set meal are all well put together too, so there's plenty of fun in choosing to your taste.

The unlimited self-bar side dish lineup
After ordering, we headed to the self-bar in the middle of the restaurant, and wow... the lineup there was genuinely insane.
There were so many side dishes, so generous and well-made, that my jaw dropped. Fresh namul (seasoned vegetables) and bibimbap toppings, glossy japchae (stir-fried glass noodles), spicy-sweet tteokbokki (stir-fried rice cakes), golden crispy kimchijeon (kimchi pancake), savory sungnyung (scorched rice tea), tofu-ssamjang, and deodeok muchim (seasoned bellflower root) — all set out for unlimited refills.

With the excellent quality of the main dishes on top of the neat, generous self-bar spread, I ended up eating way more rice than usual.

Every single side dish was seasoned just right and delicious, so I couldn't stop reaching for my chopsticks even before the main dishes arrived.

I also noticed thoughtful touches for kids, like mild japchae without pepper and unseasoned acorn jelly — I kept marveling at how considerate the owner was.

How was the West Sea Full Crab Jang set?
My daughter's West Sea Full Crab Jang set was genuinely amazing too.
Just like the name says, the crab was 100% packed with meat inside, spilling out with every bite.
The seasoning and soy sauce weren't overly salty or sharp, so the crab's natural sweet, savory flavor came through, and my daughter kept shouting 'Mom, this is seriously so good!' as she devoured it.

500℃ oven-grilled Atka mackerel: crispy outside, juicy inside
Finally, our main spread arrived, generously laid out. The Atka mackerel, properly grilled in a high-heat 500℃ oven, looked absolutely incredible!

The skin had all the grease cooked out, golden and crispy like a cracker, while the flesh inside stayed juicy and full of moisture — every bite I flaked off with my chopsticks got another gasp of delight.
The Atka mackerel's signature light, savory flavor spread gently across my palate, and dipped lightly in wasabi soy sauce over warm white rice, it was seriously irresistible.

A bite of crab jang followed by a piece of crispy-outside, juicy-inside grilled fish was a perfect pairing, just as good as any land-based bulgogi.

Finishing the meal off with a warm, savory bowl of sungnyung settled my stomach perfectly. It's a healthy, satisfying spread that anyone, of any age, would love without exception — I found myself thinking I'd love to bring my parents here next time.
In summary
If you're craving oven-grilled fish or a plump, meat-packed crab jang, and want a clean Korean meal that'll put the whole family in a good mood, I highly, highly recommend visiting. My daughter and I are already planning to come back soon to work through the rest of the menu!
