Outdoor tables at Myeongimong, Pocheon: cheese tteokgalbi & buckwheat
In short
Myeongimong is a Korean restaurant in Sinbuk-myeon, Pocheon, Gyeonggi, known for house-made buckwheat makguksu (cold noodles) and hanwoo-free hanwoo-pork tteokgalbi (grilled short rib patties). Two people filled up on cheese-added tteokgalbi, a double portion of bibim makguksu, and buckwheat mandu (dumplings) at an outdoor table on a sunny day. With an indoor restroom that's easy for pregnant visitors, a spacious parking lot, and a spotless self-serve bar, it's a great stop on a Pocheon drive.

I went on a Pocheon drive and stopped by Myeongimong, a great place to check out in Pocheon. It's also a good spot near Pocheon Art Valley, and not far past Bidulginang Falls or Gomori, so I visited as part of a drive. The weather was amazing and the restaurant's vibe and music were so good it was basically a healing spot... Let me kick off this post on Myeongimong, a Pocheon tteokgalbi and makguksu restaurant.

It's about 30 minutes from Uijeongbu, which makes it perfect for a drive course. The weather was gorgeous when I went, and there were outdoor tables, so I got to eat in a really relaxing setting — and the food itself was excellent!

House-made buckwheat makguksu and hanwoo pork tteokgalbi are the main things they sell, but the mandu (dumplings) were also so good, and the banchan (side dishes) were healthy and tasty too — a place I want to come back to often.

Parking and the restaurant's atmosphere
The parking lot is spacious, so it's easy to park :D

The interior was clean too, and the restroom is inside the restaurant, which was really convenient. As a pregnant woman, the restroom really matters to me haha.

Since the weather was so nice, we ate outside, and the outdoor tables were spotless! The owners were also so kind that I felt good from start to finish at this restaurant!

There's also a self-serve bar — everything is brought out for you at first, and after that you help yourself. I loved how the transparent lids on the self-serve bar were kept spotless, not a single stain.

Myeongimong serves buckwheat pancake as a default side. Since they also serve buckwheat makguksu, there were even explanations about buckwheat's health benefits and about tteokgalbi posted on the wall haha.
Basic banchan (side dishes)

This is the default spread — the buckwheat pancake was so good, the cucumber pickles were nice and refreshing, and the other seasoned greens and salads were healthy and delicious. If you want extra buckwheat pancake, it's ₩2,000 :)

Eating the lettuce salad together with the buckwheat pancake was absolutely delicious.
Myeongimong has both set menus and à la carte items, so whether you're a couple or a family, you can enjoy a variety of dishes. I wanted to try the tteokgalbi, makguksu, and mandu all separately, so I ordered à la carte :D
Hanwoo pork tteokgalbi (cheese added)

The first thing that came out was the cheese-added hanwoo pork tteokgalbi.

There was zero gamey smell, and the sauce was really tasty without being too strong, so it seemed like something great to share with kids or parents too. You can choose without cheese or with added cheese, whichever suits your taste.

The cheese tteokgalbi especially seemed like something kids would love! A hanwoo pork tteokgalbi that pretty much everyone can enjoy.
Double portion bibim makguksu

Next up was the double-portion bibim makguksu. I ordered the double portion, but the amount was genuinely huge! It came topped with chilled boiled pork too, which was also delicious. I wish they sold that as an à la carte item on its own! The seasoning on the makguksu wasn't too salty either — the kind of flavor that really wakes up your appetite.
Buckwheat mandu (dumplings)
Highly recommend the buckwheat mandu. This is a dish you absolutely must try! It was so good I packed some to bring home for my mom. I'm actually not supposed to eat mandu since I have gestational diabetes, but I wanted it so badly I ate it anyway — and even so, my blood sugar was fine. Truly a healthy and delicious mandu. If I lived nearby, I'd definitely be getting takeout at least once a week!!! Highly, highly recommend the buckwheat mandu.

With just the two of us, this spread was seriously filling.

Recommended as a Pocheon drive course
If you're heading out to Pocheon on the weekend, going for a drive, or visiting Pocheon Art Valley or Bidulginang Falls, I recommend stopping by to try it at least once. Prices are reasonable, the food is excellent, and the menu is healthy too — a great Pocheon restaurant to enjoy a meal with family, Myeongimong.

When I paid, I noticed there was even floss and hair ties at the counter, plus takeout was available — all of which made me like the place even more. Definitely a Pocheon restaurant I want to revisit!!
