Seohae pork belly restaurant lunch special: kimchi pork belly
In short
Sammi-jip is a kimchi pork belly restaurant in Seohae, Incheon, cooked in a cauldron-lid pan. The lunch special of kimchi whole pork belly for two, available until 4pm at ₩17,000, came with bibim naengmyeon (spicy cold noodles) and cheese potato pancake, and the side dishes—especially a clam doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew)—stood out as much as the meat. Sammi-jip is a Seohae, Incheon restaurant specializing in cauldron-lid kimchi pork belly made with domestic pork. This place doesn't cut corners on side dishes either—one of the few Korean barbecue spots I've been to that really sets itself apart.
The exterior and getting there

From Gajeong Station, it's 6 minutes by car to Sammi-jip, or 51 minutes on foot. Driving or public transit plus a short ride is the way to go.

Hours are daily 10:30am to 10:30pm, with last order at 9:30pm.
Where's the parking?
The first photo is taken from the front of the store, but there's a parking lot behind it, so just loop around through the alley. You can enter through either the front or the back door.
Inside the restaurant
With its spacious layout, this is a solid pick for group dinners or family gatherings in Seohae. Baby chairs are also available.
If any side dishes run low, there's a self-serve bar—just take as much as you'll eat.
The menu and lunch special

The menu at Sammi-jip. If the full-price menu feels like a lot, the lunch special—available until 4pm and served with doenjang jjigae and rice—is a great value option worth checking out.

Before ordering, some of you might be expecting the usual unremarkable side dishes you get at most places.

This is what I ordered. Honestly curious whether it really comes out in a cauldron lid.
Today's main: the lunch special kimchi whole pork belly

- Lunch special kimchi whole pork belly ₩17,000 for two
- Bibim naengmyeon ₩8,000
- Cheese potato pancake ₩10,000
The whole pork belly comes out pre-seared. The portion in the photo is enough for about two people.
It came with a refreshing dongchimi (radish water kimchi) broth, dipping sauce for the meat, and the doenjang jjigae included in the lunch special.

When the doenjang jjigae arrived, I found myself wondering if a mere side dish should really be this good, and had to check inside the pot. With clams added, the broth was deep, refreshing, and savory, and the tofu, zucchini, and enoki mushrooms gave it a subtle sweetness—the broth alone felt like a hangover cure.

This part gets grilled together with the meat on the pan, so customers don't need to touch it—the staff grill it for you.
The mushrooms, onion, kimchi, scallions, and minari (water dropwort) get moved toward the center of the cast-iron pot so they soak up the pork belly fat, slowly cooking over the fire for extra savoriness. Some oil can splatter here, so an apron is a must. The meat comes out fully cooked and ready to eat right away.

I kept the flame on and ate it warm—no need for high heat, just let it simmer gently on low.

There's some very soft cartilage attached too, and it's neither tough nor chewy, so you can enjoy it without worry. The ratio of fat to lean meat is just right, so even biting into just the lean part gives you that rich fatty flavor. If you want to enjoy the meat at its best, don't overcook it—pull it out quickly once it turns this light brown color. Even though it's a whole cut, it came out fully cooked through, and eating it piece by piece filled me up incredibly fast.
Bibim naengmyeon ₩8,000

A bibim naengmyeon (spicy cold noodles) where the tangy, slightly spicy flavor stands out more than sweetness.

Sammi-jip's bibim naengmyeon is such high quality it's hard to compare it to naengmyeon at other barbecue restaurants. Rather than the overly sweet kind you get at typical places, this one is tangy, nutty from the sesame oil, and hovers right at that sweet-but-not-too-sweet spot. Eaten alongside the whole pork belly, the tangy broth cuts through the fat of the meat in a way that made me finish it without even meaning to.
Cheese potato pancake ₩10,000

A potato pancake topped with mozzarella cheese. If I'd taken the photo the moment it arrived, who knows how far the cheese pull would have stretched—even before cutting into it, the smell of hearty potato filled the air.
I thought it might be a shredded potato pancake, but when I ate the thinly sliced potato, it wasn't mashed at all—more like biting into gently boiled potato with a soft, subtle bite. It also wasn't as greasy as I expected, so it never felt heavy. I wanted to eat more of the cheese potato pancake, but my stomach just couldn't take it, haha.
Final thoughts

Among pork belly restaurants in Seohae, Sammi-jip stands out for its quality meat and equally high-quality side dishes. The kimchi pork belly in particular has a wonderful balance between meat and kimchi, so it's definitely worth trying. Even though my portion was slightly overcooked, the pork belly stayed tender rather than tough, which tells you the meat quality is good—and the side dishes were the best I've had at any restaurant I've visited. If you're looking for a spot for a company dinner or family gathering in Seohae, I'd definitely recommend checking out Sammi-jip 😆
