Whenever I eat out with my kid, the menu is always the tricky part. Adults might love something, but if it's too spicy for a child, that's a dealbreaker — so a menu that both adults and kids can enjoy without worry is priceless, and honestly nothing beats meat for that. So I went to a restaurant everyone raves about in Seonbu-dong, Ansan: Buheung Charcoal Grilled Galbi.

What to order at Buheung when you have a child with you

When a family eats out together, a Korean barbecue place naturally comes up as an option — but especially with a child, you tend to prefer somewhere that has options that aren't too intense. This time we decided on Korean barbecue in Seonbu-dong, and the place we picked was Buheung Charcoal Grilled Galbi.

Walking in, I could feel that distinct charcoal-grill atmosphere right away. After sitting down and looking over the menu, we ordered the hand-marinated seasoned pork galbi and the charcoal tulip chicken feet. The seasoned pork galbi seemed like a great match for eating with my kid, and as the dad, I decided to enjoy the chicken feet too 😋

🔥 Hand-marinated seasoned pork galbi over charcoal 🍖

The real charm of Buheung Charcoal Grilled Galbi is, of course, the charcoal. Once the charcoal was set on the table, the whole mood of the meal picked up a notch. Even before the meat went on, the faint charcoal aroma already got my appetite going. The pre-marinated pork galbi gives off a sweet, savory smell the moment it hits the charcoal — genuinely mouthwatering. They flipped the meat regularly so it wouldn't burn, grilling it to a nice golden brown.

As the outside cooked to a nice finish and the seasoning's aroma started drifting up gently, I thought — I'd better make sure this is cooked through properly since my kid's going to eat it 😊 I cut the well-cooked pork galbi into bite-sized pieces and fed it to my kid with rice, and thanks to that classic sweet-savory flavor of seasoned pork galbi, they ate it right up.

If your kid likes meat, pork galbi is honestly one of the hardest menus to mess up 😊 As I ate along with my kid, plate after plate kept emptying out before I knew it. Sitting together as a family, grilling meat over charcoal, chatting and enjoying good food — it turned an ordinary evening into a genuinely happy family dinner.

🌶️ Charcoal tulip chicken feet on the side

For this meal, the menu we ordered specifically for the adults was Buheung Charcoal Grilled Galbi's charcoal tulip chicken feet. Pork galbi alone can feel a bit plain, but ordering chicken feet alongside it made the whole spread much richer. Chicken feet grilled over charcoal in particular had a completely different charm from the pork galbi.

Chicken feet is more of a menu for adults to enjoy than something to share with a kid, so ordering it alongside the pork galbi let us split up the family dinner menu nicely. Enjoying the sweet seasoned pork galbi and the charcoal chicken feet together meant we could taste two very different flavors, which kept the meal from ever getting boring. If you feel like ordering more than just pork galbi at a Korean barbecue place, pairing it with something like this is a great idea 🔥

Is Buheung Charcoal Grilled Galbi worth it for a family dinner?
