Why I went to V Medispa: tiny bumpy acne starting at the hairline

My skin broke out really badly over a few months. Tiny bumpy acne started appearing little by little along my hairline, and before I knew it, it had taken over my whole face.. In the photo my skin has makeup on, but you can still see the bumps covering my entire face. Washing my face especially bothered me because of how rough it felt, so I went to V Medispa's main branch in Bupyeong to get the bumps extracted.

The questionnaire and consultation before treatment

At V Medispa, they do a consultation before care, and it starts with filling out a questionnaire diagnosing your skin condition, which the consultation is then based on. You fill in everything in detail, from basic lifestyle habits to the cosmetics you use, and the consultation goes into real detail based on that. Since the care here can change depending on your skin condition that day, I first talked about my current concern — the tiny bumpy acne.

While looking into skin care in Bupyeong, I wanted a place that would explain things tailored to my skin rather than one that just pushes a fixed program no matter what, and the detailed consultation with no unnecessary upselling made it much less stressful.

What is Blue Peel microneedling?

The care I was scheduled to get that day was called 'Blue Peel,' and honestly I had no idea what it was when I first came in. From the explanation, it works by having naturally-derived microneedles(?) penetrate into the pores, shortening the skin's usual regeneration cycle (about 28 days) down to 3–4 days, so waste and sebum get pushed out faster. They said it works especially well for skin with bumpy texture or a lot of sebum, which matched my current skin concern exactly, so that's what they recommended.

That said, Blue Peel does hurt because of the microneedles. So it's something to avoid right before an important event, but I'd recommend it if you want to see fast recovery within 1–2 weeks!

This is my face before the treatment.. Even with makeup on, the bumps cover my cheeks and chin. It's not in the photo, but my hairline was really bad, too, ugh.

There are various programs all set up in one space, from problem-skin care to contouring and men's skin care, and since there are several therapists, it also seemed like a good place to visit together with a friend, boyfriend, or mother.

Step by step: cleansing, acne extraction, skin booster

First, my face was carefully cleansed with a milk-type product. After gently wiping away leftover waste and makeup, the real care began. She said I definitely had more bumps and sebum than other clients.. sigh.

Next was extraction. She dealt with the spots that bothered me one by one, and kept checking my skin condition as she went, so it never felt rushed — in between, she also told me where the most sebum was building up and which areas I should be careful with normally.

This is about a quarter of the sebum that got extracted................. it took quite a while, but no wonder.

After the extraction was done, a skin booster was applied to my face before the Blue Peel. It felt like it calmed down the heat from the extraction.

How painful is the Blue Peel application?

She explained the principle behind Blue Peel in detail too, so it was easy to understand how it worked.

Just as I'd been told, my skin stung during the Blue Peel application step. Since it works by driving microneedles into the pores, it's bound to hurt.

Still, she kept explaining what stage we were at and checking my skin's reaction as she went, so it was bearable. The more it hurt, the more I couldn't help expecting good results..

Calming the skin with the emergency gel and pack

After the Blue Peel was finished, an 'emergency gel' was applied. As the cool, soft product went onto my irritated skin, the burning feeling gradually eased.

After that, an 'emergency pack' was put on for a good while to calm things down further. Even during the gel and pack application after the Blue Peel, my skin still stung. She told me the pain would likely continue for about 3–5 days. Right after the Blue Peel, since my skin was in a sensitive state, focusing on calming rather than layering on a lot of products felt like the right approach. After removing the pack, she checked my skin condition again and finished with whatever products were needed.

She also carefully explained the aftercare precautions, and since I booked through Naver Reservation, she sent them in detail via KakaoTalk too!

And! She gave me various pack and cosmetic samples. The 'emergency' line used here is apparently from Arcfit, a home-care brand made directly by the head director, who has treated problem skin for a long time. There are several products for skin calming, like the emergency pack, emergency toner, emergency cleanser and emergency gel, and I was told the line is made to be usable even on sensitive skin.

Skin changes 3 days, 5 days and one week after Blue Peel

3 days after the care, I could see sebum inside the pores surfacing quickly! Yellow sebum came up, along with oily shine and painful pimples starting to appear too. I was told never to squeeze them by hand, so I just left them alone.

5 days after the care, I could feel that the redness and bumpy acne had gone down a lot, and by this point the pain had pretty much disappeared too.

Thanks to the faster skin regeneration cycle, a huge amount of dead skin flaked off my face. (Really fascinating to watch.)

And then, one week in! I'd only had one session, and since I had so many bumps to begin with, I wasn't even expecting all the acne to disappear completely.

But seeing how much better it got in just a week, I went straight ahead and rebooked with my own money!!!
