Bupyeong men's hair salon: buzz cut grown out to side-part perm, Ieum
In short
Ieum Men's Hair Bupyeong is a one-designer, men-only hair salon on Sijang-ro near Bupyeong Station in Incheon. Designer Yiyoon gave a husband who was growing out a buzz cut a cut, a down perm and a side-part perm, flattening the sides that stuck out and sweeping the front hair over naturally. The whole appointment took just under 1 hour 30 minutes and left a style that is easy to fix each morning without wax.

Ieum Men's Hair
Why we looked for a men's hair salon in Bupyeong
My husband had a style close to a buzz cut, and he kept saying it was such a hassle putting wax in every morning before work — plus he worried all that wax wasn't great for his scalp. He wanted to grow it out a bit and get something with a natural side-swept bang and a part.
While searching for a men's hair salon that's good in Bupyeong, I came across reviews for Ieum Men's Hair Bupyeong and decided to visit. From designer Yiyoon's friendly consultation to the detailed work itself, here's my satisfied review.

What is the salon like inside?
Ieum Men's Hair Bupyeong isn't just easy to get to from the station — the moment you walk in, the trendy, modern monotone interior really stands out. By the window there's a huge glass wall looking out onto greenery, so waiting never felt stuffy.
Overall the place was kept extremely clean and pleasant. On the window shelf there were figures and knick-knacks lined up that were totally my taste — fun to browse while waiting.
The consultation before the perm: hair before

His hair was growing out — shaggy and sticking up in all directions. Designer Yiyoon at Ieum Men's Hair Bupyeong went through a careful consultation about his usual hair concerns (flyaway sides, head shape, etc.) before starting.
As my husband wanted, we agreed on taming the flyaway areas, perming the bangs to sweep them over, and creating a natural-looking part. We went ahead with the cut, down perm, and side-part perm.

The cut: lines shaped around the hair growth direction
Before the perm, the cut came first. She sectioned the hair very precisely and cleaned up each line one by one.

She even factored in the direction of hair growth at the back and crown while cutting, which made me think, 'ah, this really is a place that's good with men's hair in Bupyeong.'

Checking the cut before moving into the perm

Just from the cut alone, the back of his head already looks so much tidier. Even his head looks smaller now.

How the down perm flattens sides that stick out
After the cut, she moved on to the down perm to tame the sides that kept sticking up. She carefully attached a clear mask shield so the solution wouldn't touch his face or eyes, and sprayed on a protectant before applying the perm solution.
After applying the solution, she carefully wrapped the down perm papers to match the shape of his head, and rolled the bang area to set a natural flow to the hair.

Now, break time — sipping the drink the designer offered while waiting for the transformation

An air gun to blow away loose hair — and apparently if you follow their Instagram, they'll chat with you and walk you through detailed styling tips.

After about 15–20 minutes, she washed out the perm solution with a refreshing shampoo.
After the shampoo, she checked over the hairline meticulously once more. That professionalism, not missing a single strand — I thought it looked done already, but she kept examining it closely.
The finished side-part perm: hair after

Doesn't the back look so neat? Just as he wanted, it's not too white-looking, there's no flyaway hair sticking up, and the lines are perfectly clean. So pretty ♡

Final check — I peered in from behind to see how my husband's hair turned out haha, super neat!

With the bangs sweeping over naturally, getting ready before work should be a lot easier now, right? It still feels a little unfamiliar, but I think after about a week it'll look even more natural and nice. Since his hair is still short right now, we're going with this look, growing it out for about 3 months, and then trying another perm. Seeing my husband's hair turn out so nicely put me in a good mood too.
How long it took, and why a one-designer barbershop helps
It took just under 1 hour 30 minutes. Being a one-barber shop, only one person is served at a time, so there's no waiting around in between — I really liked that. And being a men-only hair salon, what I liked most was how precisely they understood male head shapes and hair texture and offered styling tailored to that.
