Duck couple course with perilla oil makguksu in Gwacheon: Deo Chadol
In short
Deo Chadol is a duck restaurant on Twitgol 2-ro in Gwacheon, Gyeonggi, where the couple course costs 55,000 won and brings 200g of duck brisket BBQ, 300g of raw duck jumulleok (hand-massaged marinated duck), doenjang stew and self-fried rice all in one order. We came on a weekend evening as a restorative meal for a husband who had been feeling run down, and added perilla oil makguksu (chilled buckwheat noodles) for 10,000 won. My husband had been feeling under the weather all week. To help him recover and get his appetite back, we headed out on a weekend evening to Deo Chadol, a duck restaurant in Gwacheon.
It's a place where you can enjoy duck brisket BBQ and duck jumulleok (spicy stir-fried duck) in one course — great for two people. Here's my review of the Deo Chadol couple course.
How does the wait work at Deo Chadol in Gwacheon?
If you arrive at Deo Chadol during peak hours, you'll need to wait outside. We got there right at the weekend evening rush, and there was already a decent line of people waiting for their turn in front of the store.

As soon as you arrive, you can register for the waitlist inside, and you'll get your turn notified via KakaoTalk.

Deo Chadol location, hours and parking

- 🚗 Parking: Dedicated on-site parking lot

While waiting after registering, I looked around outside and noticed a wall covered with framed autographs from celebrities. Turns out actor Ryu Seung-ryong even recommended this place as a must-visit restaurant on the KBS show Delivery Has Arrived. That got me even more excited before eating.
Inside Deo Chadol: window sofas and the private room
After the wait, the inside of Deo Chadol felt more open than it looked from outside, probably thanks to the high ceilings.

There are sofa seats by the window, and a separate room space further in, which looked great for family meals or group gatherings. Luckily, we were seated in the room area and got to eat a bit more comfortably.

The Deo Chadol couple course for two, 55,000 won
What we ordered at Deo Chadol was the Deo Chadol Couple Course for ₩55,000, plus perilla oil noodles for ₩10,000. The couple course is a two-person set that lets you enjoy duck brisket BBQ, raw duck jumulleok, doenjang stew, and self-fried rice — all in one.
- Deo Chadol Couple Course - ₩55,000
- Perilla Oil Noodles - ₩10,000

The first thing to arrive at the table after ordering was the doenjang stew (soybean paste stew), simmered thoroughly in an earthenware pot. It was packed with generously cut tofu, zucchini, and mushrooms, in a portion big enough to pair well with the duck.

The basic side dishes and vegetables set on the table could also be topped up from the self-serve bar, which made the meal easy and hassle-free.
200g duck brisket BBQ: how nutty is it?
The first main dish of the Deo Chadol couple course is 200g of duck brisket BBQ. Fresh raw duck is quick-frozen, then sliced thin along the grain before being served.

As soon as the duck brisket hit the grill along with the vegetables, it cooked quickly, just like beef brisket. Because it's sliced so thin, the usual chewiness of duck is toned down, leaving a soft, mild bite. It was genuinely savory — good enough to eat without dipping it in any sauce.

It was also nice grilled alongside fresh chives and vegetables on the pan, dipped lightly in the house special sauce.
300g raw duck jumulleok in Deo Chadol's secret sauce
After the light, clean flavor of the brisket got our appetite going, we used the kiosk to call staff, and they brought out the raw duck jumulleok. Raw duck jumulleok is known for Deo Chadol's secret sauce, which reduces down on the grill — you keep cooking it until the sweet potato pieces are done.

Since it's raw duck, the texture was great, and the seasoning wasn't overly sweet or harsh, so it was easy to eat a lot of it. It came loaded with rice cakes, sweet potato, and vegetables along with the duck, which made picking through it fun.
Adding perilla oil makguksu for 10,000 won
After tasting the raw duck jumulleok, my husband said he thought it would go well with the perilla oil noodles (memil makguksu) from the meal menu, so we added an order. The noodles were packed with savory perilla flavor, and the portion was generous.

Finishing the course with self-fried rice for one
The last item in the Deo Chadol couple course is self-fried rice for one. After picking through most of the jumulleok, you fry rice in the leftover sauce.

On the pan, where the duck fat and sauce had melded together nicely, we tossed in rice, dried seaweed flakes, vegetables, and kimchi, stir-frying it all together. We even shaped it into a heart, the way restaurants sometimes do. Fried rice is basically the K-dessert you have to eat! Thanks to the spicy kick and the savoriness of the duck fat, it made for a satisfying finish.

For a reasonable price in the ₩50,000 range, the course delivered a satisfying lineup from duck brisket to jumulleok to fried rice. A great value spot in Gwacheon for a duck BBQ course.
