A newly opened seaweed soup restaurant for boyangsik (health-boosting food) in Munwon-dong, Gwacheon — a hearty, clean-looking spread at Haenon Miyeok Gwacheon Direct Branch

Haenon Miyeok: a new restorative seaweed soup restaurant in Munwon-dong, Gwacheon
Haenon Miyeok Gwacheon Direct Branch is a newly opened Korean restaurant specializing in miyeokguk (seaweed soup) in Gwacheon. I heard about it and visited with my wife for a hearty dinner together.
It's located at 1F, 67 Aetbaeraengi-ro, Gwacheon, near the Munwon-dong Community Center. It's a standalone building with a spacious dedicated parking lot right at the entrance, so it's easier to visit by car than by public transit.

That said, the lot can get crowded, so if it's full, just follow the staff's guidance — worth keeping in mind.

Stepping inside, the place was much bigger and more stylishly decorated than I expected — at first I wondered if this was really a Korean restaurant.

With plenty of spacious seating, it's great for family gatherings and group dinners, but it also had a lovely, intimate atmosphere perfect for a date.

What comes with the 26,000-won abalone and boneless flounder set
After browsing the menu, my wife and I decided to nourish ourselves and ordered two servings of the abalone flounder set (₩26,000).

After ordering, the table was soon filled with a neat, generous spread of banchan (side dishes) — enough to make the table legs creak.

The lineup — japchae (glass noodle stir-fry), cockle salad, salad, namul (seasoned vegetables) — was excellent, and even better, you could go refill from the self-serve bar if you ran out.

The seasoned flounder, which I tried for the first time here, was a real standout — spicy-sweet with a crispy-yet-chewy texture.

The main dish, abalone seaweed soup, arrived bubbling in a stone pot, and one sip was enough to draw an instant gasp — rich and deep flavor, absolutely superb.

With generous 3 large pieces of abalone in the broth, the flavor was even more intense, and enjoying the chewy abalone alongside the tender boneless flounder felt like the perfect boyangsik meal, warming us from the inside out.

Naver coupon fried shrimp and review-event kimchi pancake at Haenon Miyeok

And it wasn't over yet — using a Naver coupon, we got crispy, plump fried shrimp for free,

and by joining the receipt review event, we also got a golden-fried kimchi pancake on top of that.

The set meal alone already filled the table, and with the extra service dishes added, the spread became truly lavish, table legs practically bending under it all.
Living up to its title as the original boyangsik seaweed soup set specialist that started in Busan in 2015, this place had it all — flavor, care, and generous hospitality — and my husband and I kept enjoying the delicious meal.
Is Haenon Miyeok Gwacheon worth a dinner visit?
A Gwacheon Korean restaurant where you can enjoy rich, deep boyangsik seaweed soup and a generous spread in a clean, stylish space

This is a place I'd want to return to anytime — when craving hearty, healthy Korean food, when planning a dignified family gathering or a special meal with parents, or when wanting a warm boyangsik meal shared on a cozy date.
If you want a truly heartfelt meal to fully replenish a body and mind worn out by busy daily life, I sincerely and highly recommend visiting Haenon Miyeok Gwacheon Direct Branch whenever you're looking for a great Korean restaurant in Gwacheon or a quality seaweed soup spread. You won't regret it.
