I visited Mirim Yangjang Time Villas Suwon Branch (미림양장 타임빌라스 수원점) near Suwon Station. Jajangmyeon and tangsuyuk (sweet-and-sour pork) are always good, but I wanted something a little more special that day—and this was a place where I could try Peking duck. Since Mirim Yangjang Time Villas Suwon Branch is inside Time Villas Suwon, it is conveniently located for a meal right after shopping or looking around. It is also easy to stop by when meeting near Suwon Station, so it is a nice option for anyone looking for a good restaurant around Suwon Station.

The restaurant atmosphere and ordering

You can see the Peking ducks right by the entrance, and the open kitchen lets you watch the food being made. The restaurant retains the feel of a Chinese restaurant without being overly formal or old-fashioned, so it was comfortable for a casual meal. It would be fine for a family visit, and it also had an easygoing atmosphere for eating with friends or a date. The space felt fairly roomy too, making it nice for ordering several dishes to share. I also thought it could work well for a group dinner near Suwon Station or for a larger party wanting to share a variety of dishes.

You order by QR code. That day, we chose the Peking duck set. It came with duck, two meal choices, and one drink. For the meal choices, jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup), jajangmyeon (noodles in black bean sauce), or fried rice were available, and we picked jjamppong and fried rice.

A crispy Peking duck set

The Peking duck set we ordered arrived. Nearly everything came out at once, which made it convenient to eat together.

Set with duck and meal dishes

The Peking duck, the star of the meal, honestly exceeded my expectations. The first thing I noticed was the crispy, nutty flavor of the skin. The outside was properly crisp and savory, and its distinctive flavor came through more as I chewed. Personally, I think the texture of the skin is important with Peking duck, and that was what I liked about Mirim Yangjang's version. There was more than I expected, enough for two people, and eating it with the vegetables and pancakes kept me reaching for more without getting tired of it.

When I was looking for a restaurant near Suwon Station, this Peking duck set was a really nice choice for something a little more special than the usual dishes. The crispy, nutty flavor of the duck I had that day was especially memorable, and it is a flavor I would want to have again. Put vegetables and duck on a pancake, then add the sauce—the combination is really harmonious and delicious. Since the set includes not only Peking duck but also jjamppong and fried rice, it was plenty for a full meal. If you usually like Peking duck or have wanted to try a proper duck dish, I think this is worth a visit when you are looking for Peking duck.

How was the Peking duck and jjamppong combination?

The jjamppong, one of the meal choices, was pleasantly spicy rather than overwhelmingly hot. Because the Peking duck was rich and savory, having jjamppong alongside it worked well. Eating the spicy jjamppong between bites of rich duck felt like a little reset for my palate, and alternating between the two made each flavor stand out even more. Personally, I liked how much better the Peking duck and jjamppong pairing worked than I expected. If you want Chinese food with a drink near Suwon Station, this kind of set could be a nice option too. With so many menu choices, it could also be a good place to have a meal while looking for a bar near Suwon Station.

Fried rice with jajang sauce

The fried rice, topped with a fried egg, had a comforting old-school feel. It also came with jajang sauce, and mixing it in worked better than eating the fried rice on its own. The jajang sauce made it familiar yet enjoyable, and it paired nicely with the jjamppong too. After trying the Peking duck set at Mirim Yangjang Time Villas Suwon Branch, I found it more substantial and satisfying than I expected. Above all, the duck's crispy skin and nutty flavor stayed with me the most. The portion was just right for two, and with both jjamppong and fried rice, it left nothing lacking as a complete meal. If you want something a little different from your usual meal and are looking for a Chinese restaurant near Suwon Station, I think Mirim Yangjang Time Villas Suwon Branch is worth trying.
